First try the switch for hammerdrill/drill action. If it feels loose, then its internal. if it feels ok, then your hammers on the cage are stuck, frozen or worn.

I have an old Kango drill/hammer Model 637/638. The hammer is working but not the drill. Where do I start to check the problem. Manual of no help.

It is very likely the carbon brushes that contact the motor to transfer electricity to the windings. those tend to crack and get stuck or wear out. They need to be moving in and out freely and have spring pressure pushing them in towards the motor. you can get new ones cheap at ereplacementparts.com if they sell them.

Dewalt 36v SDS 234 drill issue! Could someone please help? When I pull the trigger on the drill the motor runs but the drive only turns for about 1 second and stops even though the motor is still running....

DeWalt says:
Number of drilling modes
3 modes. Rotation only, hammering with rotation, or hammering only with rotation stop for light chiselling applications in tiles and plaster and impact stop mode for rotary drilling only in wood and steel.
Maybe yours is doing the second one?

I have a hitiachi DH38ye drill and it won't accept the Bosch spline bits. they go in ok but the chuck won't lock. The drill accepts the hammer bits fine but won't accept the drill bits

you have me stumped on this one. The tool you have is a spline shank hammer and it should accept all standard spline bits and also hammer iron that is made for these. Is it possible that the Bosch bit has a burr on the splines not allowing it to lock? I have checked the Hitachi site and found no reason it would not work. I will continue checking though.

Dewalt drill model no dw563l-xw not hammering sounds okay but no power behind hammer stroke

The selector switch (hammer drill/drill) has to be fully set to the hammer drill position for it to work. Also, the bit has to meet some resistance for the hammer effect to be more pronounced. Make sure also that your forward/reverse switch is set to forward.

Dewalt 18v XRP Hammer drill cause battery to burn, I'm talking flames and smoke. Motor run in both direction.

I hope this drill is still under warranty as the battery is in serious trouble. As long as the motor is turning, it should not be causing the battery to do this. Hope this helps!
