Internal heat capacitor needs to be replaced. Best to have TV REPAIR MAN do this

the set is going into shutdown mode. does the power indicator blink when it shuts down. If so how n=many blinks does it blink?

Contact the company that makes your tv and find out what the "code" (# of times the red light flashes) means. Then call a repair place and check prices on the part. It might be worth having them fix it for you! My tv is a phillips 50" plasma and the light was flashing 6 times witch ment "power board" the part was 318 and the labor was 195....for a tv I paid 2,000 for 23 months ago. I hope it doesnt go out in another 2 years....nice that they know it will go out and even program a "code" in it for you!!!

Try the power supply. Look on the one in your TV for the part number ; mine is PH3501705441. I ordered one from partstore.com and it was less than $60 shipped. Hope this helps, mine works fine now........and I have a 50P8342 chassis PTV 916

install the convergence repair kit. Its takes 2 STK392-110 Convergence ICs and you will need a few of the 6.8 ohm resistors. You can get the DPTV305 -DPTV345 convergence repair kit which also applies to your model from www.tvrepairworld.com which has the parts and the CD with instructions and the Kit has the STK392-120 ICs which would be a better set of ICs for your model.

Seems like it is overheating. Try cooling it down by using a fan to blow air into it (temporary fix). Make sure the TV is well ventilated and heat can escape (permanent solution).
