The term "heavy duty" sewing machine is thrown about loosely lately. There are new machines (including Pfaff, Singer, etc) for sale advertised as "heavy duty," but I would be hesitant to stitch denim jean hems on them. The Pfaff 807, which appears to be an older mechanical, is probably more "heavy duty" than some newer machines on the market. However, "heavy duty" does not mean that you can sew big canvas sailcloth or heavy upholstery projects. A domestic machine (which the Pfaff 807 is) is really meant for general domestic sewing. If you want to sew "heavy duty" fabric, then look to an industrial machine. Remember that frequent sewing of heavy fabric takes a toll on a domestic machine, ie the motor, needlebar, other working parts, thus hastening the demise of your machine and the more frequent need for service & repair.

I can't find the sewing foot pressure regulator on the 807. Where is it! I am sewing cotton batiks over polartec so I want less pressure on the foot

It is usually directly above the needle bar. It could be inside the case or on the outside, depending on the model.

I'm trying to find needles for my Pfaff Hobbymatic 875. Haven't had any luck. Do you know where to buy them? Thanks.

The Pfaff Hobbymatic Extra 875 uses standard 15x1 sewing machine needles. The needle you need will depend on the fabric and thread. You'll use a thicker needle for denim than for a lightweight knit. See https://www.sewingpartsonline.com/pfaff-875-serger-machine-parts.aspx?index=14 for a wide selection of different in stock needles.

I hope this helps.

I have not used my machine PFAF 875 hobbymatic in over 10 years. It has been in storage. No repairmen around my area. How can I ensure that it is ready to sew? It is running but it is slow

Hello, Angie -

First, give your sewinig machine a thorough cleaning and oiling (light touch of oil in the hook raceway, only), following instructions in your PFAF 875 Hobbymatic user's manual.

If you do not have the manual, you can find it here to download:
http://www.pfaff.com/SiteMedia/PFAFF/Products/Machines/Support-manuals/Pfaff_874_875_876_HobbyMATIC_Extra-manual-EN-DE-FR-IT.PDF

If the machine still seems to run slowly, then I suggest you look for a nearby business which sells Pfaff machines and ask where you can have your machine serviced.

If there is no business in your area which sells Pfaff machines, perhaps you can find a generic sewing machine repair business near you.

If you have not contacted the Pfaff company regarding service for your machine, this is the link to the Pfaff Machine Support page:

Best wishes.

A merritt sewing motor controller compatible with a Pfaff hobbymatic 807?

I wouldn't use a pedal from another machine. WHile they may do the same thing, the voltages that flow through them can be very different. Get on EBay and search for a used pedal for the right machine.
