If handy maybe take radio apart and check for internal fuse blown if equipped, check for cracked solder joints, burnt capacitors, etc. Good luck with your radio.

What owmage antenna for a maxon mcb 30 i 'am using a cobra cable reel type up n down antenna

Always use 50 coax cable. For automobile use RG58 or LMR200. For home use RG8X for cable runs under 30 ft. For longer cable runs use RG8 or LMR400.

Maxon wire fuses

If a inline fuse in a holder the old one will aside from length have the amperage printed on it---very few mobile radios use larger than a 3 amp fuse-----look on metal ends of old fuse if have it for markings like 3ag 3 250---3AG is size, 3 is 3 amp, 250 is max working voltage (120 is fine).

Squelch when keying ptt

I would check my ptt wiring making sure the button is set so that when you push it it switches you from RX to TX. If you have a wiring diagram that would be helpful if not are you able to get one? In any event make sure the wires are not misconnected.

Maxon MCB 10 A

I'm not sure about your particular model but many CB radios use the microphone push-to-talk switch to kill the speaker while the radio is transmitting. If you don't have the correct microphone or if the cord has a broken wire it can cause the radio to have no sound. Another possibility is that the speaker is bad. There is probably an external speaker jack on the back of the radio. You could try plugging a different speaker or even an earphone in the jack to see if you get sound there.

Well my friend I have same problem with some radio. Maybe you should try just to connect detector to audio amplifier and than make an squelch circuit in AF?
