The master password is 4357. This will erase previously entered password when used. You can go into the menu and reset the a new password or turn off parental controls. Hope this helps.

i had the same problem and i bought the new remote control and it did work at first i thought it was going to do the same thing but then i pushed the tv/use button and it worked perfectly.

right it may be that your universal remote is not compatible with your tv.

Haier for sure recognizes the model. It's been a problem since produced. To correct the problem you'll need an upgrade kit. I'll attach the upgrade instructions and part number for the kit. Try resetting back to factory specs as noted at the bottom of instructions. Follow the procedure to a "T" when you see two menus pop up use the one on the right. You need the upgrade kit - make Sears come out and order it for you - they know all about it, claim that the monitor should have been recalled. Mine was out of warranty, however I convinced them to fix the TV.
