No picture or sound

The fault you describes is due to low signal strength. If tuner of the said TV is faulty, this type of snow interference will occur too. Just check for good firm connection to its antenna terminal. If it is Ok, check the continuity of the cable used with antenna. Check the orientation of yagi antenna if used outside. If all are OK, and nothing help you, just replace its tuner with same type and number. Tuner is a small metal box type component can be seen soldered directly to the main printed circuit board inside. Usullay, its one terminal will come out as antenna IN of the TV, to which you connects the external antenna or cable. You must have a concept of soldering and desoldering to replace it, and must have a knoledge in electronics too. OK.

What type of antenna are you using? Or what is your source for accessing channels? (i.e. - are you connecting to a cable tv service box or are you using a receiver ect.) Make sure that your source is connected to the input method that you are currently using on the tv.

There are many input methods to choose from in the settings of the tv. They are generally called antenna 1, antenna 2, cable, aux, hdmi - and a few other names. There should be a button on your remote to change them. The function is usually called "source" or "input". Press that button to change the input method until you get a picture on the tv or pick up some sort of reception. when you have the tv set on the same method of input that your antenna source is connected to, you will get channel reception or some sort of picture. Thats when you use the menu functions to auto find channels for you and let it go through its checking scan to report how many it has picked up.

If its running the scan for channels and not locating any stations, and the picture is either scrambled with the white noise sound tv's make when off channel or if its just single color screen without any sound - then you know the antenna input method you have chosen on the back of the tv is not the current method set in the settings under the menu key.

Most of the time the inputs are labeled on the back. If you look under the cable antenna connection, it should say "cable" somewhere in small print - or "antenna 1 input", antenna 2 ect. Look on the back of the tv. If you are using RCA jacks that are labeled right and left for sound and a third connector for video ect, look for the name of the input method of those three connections on the back of the tv. It should be marked as input - aux 1 ect. Then just change the source chosen in the tv to match it and have it auto program your channels.

digital signals do not fade out and get snowy like signals used to do ... if the signal gets too weak then it just freezes .. you might say its either perfect or frozen .. sometimes it gets blocky .. where some sections of the screen freeze while other sections continue .. what that means if you are using an antenna is .. you need a better antenna or better aim for the one you have .. outside is much better than inside but just rabbit ears are ok for strong signal areas .. you can aim the antenna based on a signal strength meter usually provided in HD receivers in the setup menu .. you can also get an antenna map from "www.antennaweb.org" .. that will show you what direction to point the thing for each channel and how strong each channel should be ... if you are using Cable instead of an antenna then you should have good signal strength but there is a problem called "Crest Factor" .. that becomes an issue when they put too many signals on a given cable .. the cable handles it ok as long as there is no damage (bad ends, water inside, animal chews, corrosion) but the cable box or receiver may be overloaded as thousands of signals drift in and out of phase ... thats a cable company problem that might be getting worse as more channels are added .. the results are that periodically the picture will freeze or pixelate .. you probably have to accept a little of that but more than a little gets really irritating ....off the air reception with an inside antenna (like rabbit ears) you will find that moving around the room can effect the signal for channels in the UHF range (most are) .. aiming the antenna and getting it as high as possible will minimize that problem.. make sure whatever antenna you use is designed for UHF as well as VHF .. the little circle often found between the two "rabbit ears" is actually the UHF part of the antenna .. it can be rotated for UHF channels while the big ears are aimed and adjusted for VHF .. antennaweb.org will tell you which is UHF and VHF ..

rf cables will work fine for older tvs. newer tvs should use the composite (yellow, red and white cable) to produce a digital picture and sound. FYI the indoor antenna works best when positioned in a window. Best thing to do is install an outdoor antenna in the attic near the gable vent or on the exterior of the house.

antenna mast is no good.. you can buy a mast and have it installed or buy a used antenna and have it installed im sure Elite foreign auto parts has only saab parts.. tested and used,

If you're not on cable or satellite, you will need an antenna to get off-the-air reception. This TV does not have a DTV tuner, so you will also need the converter box. Depending on how far you are from the broadcasters' transmitters, you might be able to get away with an indoor antenna. Or you might find that you get few channels with the inside antenna and then you'll need something outdoors. There are a number of styles to choose from.

The antenna hooks to the converter box, and the converter box then goes to the TV. It can be hooked to the TV's "ANTENNA" connector. This should be covered in the set's manual where it shows you how to connect a regular antenna. With the box, your TV will always stay on channel 3 or 4 (depends on how you set up the box) and you'll change channels on the converter.

You can also connect the converter to the TV with audio and video cables like you would a DVD player. Most of the "coupon-eligible" converter boxes include direct video and audio output jacks. This gives you better picture and sound quality than by hooking it to the TV's antenna input.

Hooking up a converter box is like going back in time to when cable TV was new and you had to get a converter box from your cable company. Same way of hooking it up. Hope this helps!

If you have static siugnal, sure TV is not dead.

Check the aerial cable, ensure it is well plugged in and getting signal.

If you are using a receiver box, check cables to TV and receiver (freeview, sat, cable etc.), try setting channels on receiver again, if it does not work but you get static, then either the cables or receiver are defective.

Test the TV on standalone , connecting it to an external antenna.
Tune again the channels, and save the preset.
If still no signal then the antenna socket on the TV may be defective.

Try using the TV with a DVD.

If you can watch DVDs, and TV is not keeping channels preset, and you tried all the above, at this point htere may be a fault in the tuner card inside tv.

Call the phone number listed on tv user manual to get support, and eventually repair it.

let me know first what is your source of the signal: from cable TV, from antenna or from video source like dvd and vtr or any deck? if from dvd or any video source are u using rf cable or av cable (two wires) one for audio and other for video if it is this wire try interchange audio to video.
next at what time you miss the picture during watching tv through antenna or cable or during using video sources?

Are you using a cable box or is your input through the coax cable or antenna? If you are using a cable box with RCA connections make sure the Red and Black cables are securely plugged in both the cable box and the TV. Check to see if your TV has sound by going to the antenna input and select any channel and crank up the volume. If you don't hear anything you'll probably need a new TV.

Probably need the TUNER either fixed or replaced.
