My Fire HD 8 6th generation is not responding and some of the items on my home screen have disappeared. What can I do to fix this? Maybe it needs a new battery?

There could be several reasons why your Fire HD 8 6th generation is not responding and some items are missing from the home screen. Here are a few things you can try:
  1. Perform a soft reset: Press and hold the power button for 20 seconds and then release. Wait for the device to restart and see if it resolves the issue.
  2. Check the battery level: If your device is not charged, it may not function properly. Connect the device to a power source and check if it charges.
  3. Clear cache and data: Go to Settings > Apps & Games > Manage All Applications > All > Home Screen > Clear Cache and Clear Data.
  4. Check for updates: Make sure your device is up-to-date with the latest software version. Go to Settings > Device Options > System Updates and check for any available updates.
  5. Factory reset: If none of the above steps work, you can try a factory reset. Note that this will erase all data on your device, so make sure to back up any important files before proceeding. To perform a factory reset, go to Settings > Device Options > Reset to Factory Defaults.
If none of the above steps work, it is possible that your device may need a new battery or further troubleshooting. You may want to consider contacting Amazon customer support for assistance.

My Kindle will not charge - I have trued with various chargers I own

Hello

Just follow these steps to fix this issue:

1. Plug the device into the Kindle A/C adapter (not your computer) and let it charge for a few hours. Be sure the charging light is lit -- sometimes a drained Kindle will stop charging a few seconds after you plug it in. Unplug and replug until the light stays on steadily, then leave it alone. Most of the time you'll come back to a restored kindle. If not, go on to step 2.
2. If you still see the same Critical Battery screen after charging, unplug the USB cord, then hold the power slide to the right for at least 20 seconds.
3. Release the power slide, then immediately press and hold the Home key for another 30 - 45 seconds.
4. Once the Kindle's screen begins to flash, release the Home key. The eReader will boot to recovery mode. To continue, press and hold the R key until the screen flashes again.
5. After the device is finished rebooting, you may see the Critical Battery screen once more. If so, plug in the USB cord and wait for the Kindle to return to the Home screen.

Reset my kindle,

Dead battery. If you haven't charged it for several years it dies.
Unreparable although if you call kindle customer support they may give you a discounted price on a new or refurbished current model Kindle. They'll want your old one for parts.

Can't get the kindle to charge

I would recommend doing a RESET. This will not delete your data. You can this by following these steps:

Hold the power switch for 20 seconds. Slide the power switch and hold it in place for 20 to 30 seconds before releasing it.
  • You need to physically hold the power switch in its off position for this long. Doing so tells your device to "reboot," in essence, instead of merely shutting down.
  • The reboot screen should appear as soon as you release the power switch.

HOW DO I UNDER FREZZER MY KINDLE

Hold the power switch for 20 seconds. Slide the power switch and hold it in place for 20 to 30 seconds before releasing it.
  • You need to physically hold the power switch in its off position for this long. Doing so tells your device to "reboot," in essence, instead of merely shutting down.
  • The reboot screen should appear as soon as you release the power switch.

Give the Kindle time to reboot. The Kindle will reboot within a minute or two. Be patient and give your device ample time to finish its reset.
  • There is some possibility that the Kindle will freeze as it reboots. This may be the case if your Kindle stays frozen on the reboot screen for more than ten minutes.
Charge the Kindle. If the device freezes during the reboot or does not respond to the reset at all, plug the charger in and allow your Kindle to charge for 30 minutes or more.
  • Make sure that your Kindle has enough time to complete a full charge.

Hold the power switch down again. After you finish charging the Kindle, slide the power switch and hold it down for another 20 seconds.
  • The reboot screen should appear again. Give the device a minute or two to reboot before checking it again. This should complete the reset.

What do ido to make my kindleD00901 operational SCRREN showing critical battery

The nice thing is, that the Kindle/Amazon charger (Ac adapter) is clearly marked as being an Amazon/Kindle charger.

So, here's what you do, perform the hard reset of the Kindle (slide and hold the power switch over to 20+seconds; count slowly; release, then connect to your Amazon/Kindle AC adapter. Then leave it connected for 30+minutes; and should the battery charge, the Kindle screen will return to normal.

Alternate step to try is; if you don't have the actual Kindle AC adapter, you will need to try to charge via the USB port from your computer.

The trick here is, that the Kindle takes longer to charge direct from a computer USB port, and the computer has to be left on the whole time and CANNOT go to sleep, as the power to the USB ports might be turned off.
Also, it's best if you connect to a "powered" USB hub, or the USB ports found at the back of a computer tower (not the front USB ports as most of the time, the front ports do not supply enough power for Kindle charging).
