Craftsman DLT 3000 that will cut & run stable when choke is fully out, but won't idle or run without sputtering when choke is in. Any help!

Machine runs fine when Choke is fully out. Will sputter and chug when choke is in, This is while mower is engaged & or when mower not engaged but just driving.

Carb was recently cleaned.. Wondering if it may need rebuild, I was hoping it was a filter or fuel pump issue.

Carb needs cleaning and possible rebuild. Very common problem especially with ethanol gas.

Sounds like the float is sticking or the needle is clogged. Neither one should happen on a clean ebuild unless there is trash in the fuel lines. My local shop charges $65 for a rebuild. Alot less than a new one. I would drain the tank and change the filter and have the shop that did the rebuild fix it...something is wrong with the rebuild.

Craftsman DLT 3000 lawn tractor. It won't turn over with a new battery.

Question edited for clarity, 'make model (what it is)'.
Question moved from Cars and Trucks.

Batteries can be new and not be fully charged. Lots of ideas in the link, but test the starter solenoid first.

..

This battery tells you how to load test a battery, about connection being clean. Also that new batteries aren't always fully charged. He explains the solenoid function

And another good electrical testing video.

Craftsman dlt 3000 16.5 honda engine will only run if the choke is closed

if it still won't run after cleaning the bowl...you will need to remove the small jet inside the bowl that allows vaporized gas to be pumped into the carb..it is very small you will need a needle or something similar to clear..it usualy is next to the bowl float and is vertical to the carb..good luck

I have a craftsman Dlt 3000 riding mower with a 20hp kohler v twin . engine starts and runs for 5 seconds and shuts off

no model # on my DLT3000. Replaced rear fender a few years ago where the model # used to be. I can't get the right parts w/o model #. It was by my dad sometime between '04 and '07. It's red w/42" cut, 20hp koler pro motor.

Craftsman DLT 3000 18.5HP - Engine Dies

sounds like the choke mechanism is stuck in closed position, causing a overly rich mixture, to check this removethe air filter cover, element and housing, there are two nuts and a 5/16 head screw somewhere that need to come off too, then pull off housing and you will be able to see the choke plate, it should only be closed when throttle lever is all the way up. when you determine if this is the pronlem or not you can email me if you want
