Assuming that 20x12 means 20 feet by 12 feet, then you take the three values in feet - 20, 12, and .333 (4 inches is 1/3 foot).

Multiply these three numbers to get the cubic feet:
12 x 20 = 240
240 x .333 = 79.92
Now that you have 79.92 cubic feet, to get cubic yards you divide by 9 since there are 9 cubic feet per cubic yard.

79.92 cu. ft. divided by 9 = 8.88 cubic yards (round up to 9).

Area 40 ft long 4ft wide 5 inches deep how many sq yards needed

First step - convert everything to feet - 5" is 5/12 of a foot

40 x 4 x 5/12 = 66.6 cubic feet.

Since a cubic yard is 3 feet by 3 feet by 3 feet, there are 27 cubic feet in a cubic yard.

66.6 cubic feet / 27 cubic feet/cubic yard = 2.5 cubic yards.

Good luck.

2800 square feet 4 inches thick. How many yards?

Since 4 inches is 1/3 foot (.333), you first compute cubic feet. The equation is:

2800 divided by .333 = 933.33 cubic feet

Next divide by 9 to get (cubic) yards:

933.33 divided by 9 = 103.703 yards

How many yards to cover 30ft/40ft 4 inches deep in concrete

That may be ok for the US, but in Europe you would need cubic metres.
I yd = 0.914 m, 1 cubic yd = 0.914 x .914 x .1914 = 0.764
So 14.66 cu. yds is 14.66 x 0.764 = 11.2 cubic metres - with a bit of luck!

How do i convert 60 tons of ashpalt to square yards

AC is approx. 145 lbs per cubic ft.
there are 27 cubic ft in 1 cubic yard
60 tons x 2000 = 120000 divided by 145 = 827.58 cubic ft divided by 27 = 30.65 cubic yards

square yards would depend on thickness of AC.
you can take thickness x sq ft to get cubic ft

in concrete 1 cubic yard =
4 inch thickness = 81 sq ft or 9 sq yrds
6 inch thickness = 54 sq ft or 6 sq yards

How to calculate cubic feet ?

Calculating the cubic feet of a space requires multiplying the area of the bottom times the average height. You get the bottom area by multiplying the length times the width. Remember, to get cubic feet, you need all your measurements in feet to start with.

Here is your formula:

VOLUME (in cubic feet) = Length (in feet) X Width (in feet) X Height (in feet)

If it's a rectangular room you're working with, it is all straightforward. If there are irregular walls, it may be necessary to divide up the room into rectangular sections and then add together their individual volumes. If the ceiling is sloped, you need to use the height that has the same ceiling area above it as below it. Good luck! Truly.
