1. In order to wind a bobbin you must transmit a design to the machine, as well as send a block to your sewing machine.
2. If no design has been transmitted and no block of color sent, the bobbin winder will not work.
3. Replace the embroidery thread on your spool pin with Bobbinfil thread, wind the thread around the thread guide located over the transparent threading path on the top of your machine and then slip the end of the thread through the opening in the bobbin from the inside to the outside.
4. Place the bobbin on the bobbin winder shaft and push the shaft towards the right.
5. Hold the thread end securely above the bobbin, and then press the green operation switch on the front panel of your machine to begin winding. (The foot control is inoperable with the embroidery unit attached)
.
6. Allow the bobbin to turn several (10 to 12) times and then stop the machine by touching the red operation switch on the front panel of your machine. Cut the thread at the top of the bobbin as close to the bobbin as possible. Continue to wind the bobbin.
7. The bobbin will stop turning when it is full. Push shaft to the left, clip the thread and remove the bobbin from the shaft.
8. Remove the hoop from the machine, (DO NOT REMOVE YOUR FABRIC FROM THE HOOP), replace the empty bobbin and then re-insert the hoop.
9. If your design moved forward a stitch or two when you picked up the bobbin thread, you can use the backstitch operation switch on the front of your machine to move back to your original position.

Model 2142. Motor runs but why doesn't belt move for regular sewing?

Make sure the bobbin winder has not been activated. When the bobbin winder is activated, the needle bar is deactivated. The belt could also be stretched, damaged, or broken.

If it is a mechanical machine, how long has it been since a thorough cleaning and oiling?

It was working now it seems to be frozen the needle part wont move

Bobbin winder doesnt work

The bobbin winder tires on most of the new lower to medium end brother machines have a tendency to sort of melt. I honestly don't know what causes it, but basically the rubber ring that rides the handwheel and causes the bobbin winder to turn will liquify and drip off the bobbin winder and then re-solidify. It would be best to take your machine to a repair shop, to get the tire replaced and to have the old tire sludge cleaned out, though if you are adventurous, you could try it yourself. You can order a tire at the link I've provided, but most sewing machine repair shops can get you one as well.

Needle is not moving

Of course I have to guess here--not seeing the machine, but it appears that your motor is working fine. That would leave two possibilities, I think. The first is a defective foot pedal. The second is, when you push the bobbin winder, it engages a clutch that diverts power from the needle shaft to the winder. It is possible that the clutch is stuck. To find out, disengage the bobbin winder and press the foot pedal, and see if the bobbin winder spindle is still spinning.

Bobbin winder won't spin

Singer 9410 I take it ??
More detail is always helpful here, saves time and guesswork.
Likely to be worn or broken Bobbin Winder Rubber...like a tyre that runs off the handwheel inside casing when moved to Right side position.

I just bought a used juki DDL 8500 industrial sewing machine. It didn't come with manual. I also can't find a bobbin casing. I feel very foolish. There appears to have a bobbin winder on the side....

I just bought the same machine and mine came with a photocopied manual. There is indeed a bobbin winder on the side, there's a flat section on the side of the bobbin winder closest to you, if you push that forward it connects a wheel attached to a bobbin spoke, to the belt that runs between the machine and the motor. To wind the bobbin, put the bobbin on sideways onto the axis of the wheel that is on the inside of the machine, and push the bobbin winder forward.
If you're looking for where the bobbin case is located on the machine, if you look underneath the machine on the left hand side, there should be a metal belly, on the left side of the belly is an opening, and in there sits the bobbin casing.
I think you were asking for either one of these answers, I'm on here troubleshooting for my Juki DDL-8500, good luck with yours, hopefully I can find what I need to know too!

The motor runs but NOTHING moves, not even the bobbin winder

If the motor is actually running but nothing moving at all even the winder then either the belt is loose or it has come off.
