I cant play cd or dvd on my laptop

a stock day 1 03 honda headend radio and CD Player?

yes/no.? if not , post maker ,model number of unit, can look them all up. and even fix them.

try a new , real CD, from a store, called CDDA ,

like Hank Williams.

you never said what CD you have, there are vast types.

CDDA (all play)

CD-r few to none.

DVD none.

CR-RW, none.

mp3 , non



your CD came new with a book listing all valid formats

i bet you lost that,



the orig manuals said ., some CD-r play

and only burns (rips) from CDDA, to CDR.

never MP3 or DVD or with complex file structures

hell even new cars , fail with insane complex directory or file structures. (cept my home theatre, amp plays it all. but says it will and does, but back in dark ages of CD NO, not at aLL.)

some start to work and freeze half way but CDDA works always.

if not? the Drive is DOA> the parts are more that a new radio.

I have personally burnt every form, and complexity CD and DVD

and have tried i on many cars. (other home equipment)

today, I DONT, run USB flash , mp3 or wav.s.

CD/s are now relic tech, to me. life is too short of scratches and hang\'s, for me.

answer 2: real new hank disc , any real CDDA .

it gives and error.

that means, :

1: the driver is filthy head lens.

2: motor dont spin

3: optical sensor bad or piece of junk in the gap.

4: DISC LABLE FLOATING ABOUT.

5: MOTOR RPM TOO LOW, AND GOES err.

6: head motor stalled.

can do 20 more , but why , its dead and once cleaned still dead

the parts are too expensive and labor 10x that. why worry dead.

replace it. and upgrade (zero CD)

The DVD drive would not know what type of disk it was spinning up and you would continually get a unknown disk message.

You cant install it through this file install.sh
Find the file install.exe ... from this file you can install it
CHECK the files of the program and find install.exe and double click on it

burn the install DVD onto a CD. DUH!

the combo drive you listed above is a cd-rw/ DVD-ROM....meaning that it will play and burn cd, cd-r, and cd-rw disks. the dvd rom will only be able to play dvd-rom and dvd-r disks providing they are in the proper format. check that the disk in question is not a dvd-rw or (+2) disk. the drive will not recognize that a disk is in the drive if the disk isnt compatable. try a dvd movie, if that works then a dvd-r, if that works then try a dvd-rw +1. if the last option doesnt work then you will have to stick with the dvd-rom and dvd-r, or purchase a dvd-rw drive to install.

It sounds like the drivers could be bad or the lens has gone.
This can be a common problem with vista loosing the CD/DVD drives.
Do this >>>>>> right click on "computer" and select "manage" from the sub menu, then select "device manager" from the left hand side, it will generate a list of devices, look down the list for CD/DVD and click on the + icon next to it, from the drop down list right click and uninstall, restart the PC and let vista re-install the drivers for you, then try to use the CD/DVD.
If this does not work please post back.

its mean u have no vedio driver in ur laptop,every laptop have driver of audio and vedio for its seprate operating system, like vista and xp.

first of all install vedio driver for ur laptop, ur laptop have any graphics card, then install its drivers.you can see graphics driver name and series on ur laptop cartoon box.

you may install other dvd player to run ur cd, like kmp player or vlc media player looke on www.filehippo.com for players. for drivers..

for graphics driver-- http://driversdownloadsfree.com/tag/nvidia-ge-force-go-6150-driver-for-windows-xp open that site, type ur graphics card detail with, xp or vista., in serch box, and download it, and install.

This is not a driver problem. It is almost certainly a problem with yourdvd/cd player. If it is reading dvd's, then it means that the driver is installed. You will have to take your laptop in and possibly get the cd/dvd player replaced.

Hello, you are so funny SeekPCRepair, when my neighbours went missing she thought it was personal (she has had some wicked pc issues last year!!!) Piap,has the CD rom icon dissapeared off the my computer window? This can mean evil gnomes have stolen it ( a fellow once said) but actually, it is something that sometimes just happens. It can be there one minute and gone the next.
You do need to go through the steps above as SeekPCRepair has said, but if nothing above works, and no entries at all appear for your drive under device manager ( found by clicking my computer, then view system info, then hardware, then device manager) and you have opened up your pc, and checked if the power ribbons (cables) are secure, and then looked for it again, it is either defective or a software issue. If all else fails, you can try editing the registry, as it may be corrupt driver files but first you need to try uninstalling the drive and reinstalling it if you can find the driver deatils. If this does not work, try downloading new driver from manufactures website. Install with this and see if it works. Post back if none of this works above and i will tell you how to step by step edit the registry to repair corrupt files.
