I want to delete a number that i sent a text to. i deleted the contact and everything else but when i hit send text, text message, the number poops up. I cant get rid of it! HELP!
Unfortunately the only way to get rid of the recent list is to do a manufacturer reset on your device (menu>settings>more>security>erase/reset>reset phone)

For Android cell phone, the easy way to delete old text messages and phone numbers is using Android data eraser program. With its help, you can easily access all text messages and phone numbers. This problem can be a bit annoying. After deleting a contact in my LG840g a long time ago, the number would still be there as an option when I send text messages. However, after much research it is no longer there, so I'm happy.
What I did after viewing a suggestion from another reviewer for another LG model is basically sent blank text messages to as many inessential numbers in my phone as I could at one time (5 is the max on my LG840g). I sent texts to AT&T, Bud's Gun Shop, Ace Elite Card, the college that I attend, and a local checking cashing place 7 times until it eventually cleared that annoying number from my phone. This has worked for me.
Note that the inessential numbers you send texts to will take the place of that annoying number, so if that is OK, then make sure that the annoying number is deleted from your contact list first, and try it.
Click on messaging icon from main menu.
Click send message.
Instead of clicking text message click on pic/video message.
then you have 4 options TO: CONTACTS , TO Mobile#, To Email, And finally To Recent lict. Click on recent list and checkmark all the numbers you want deleted then click options bottom right corner then click delete.....

But it was important who I selected first. I sent a message to my wife and my friend.My wife's name got added back to my top three! Then I reversed and sent a message to my friend and to my wife. His name got added back!

I took a wack at it and it took me an hour to figure it out. Okay where is the way go to the messaging menu choose send message then go to Voice SMS okay then choose Recent List there you should see the recent contact you have texted to select the ones you want to delete and press options there you can delete the selected or delete all.
i have the same problem 2.. so what i doing 2 my phone is:
1- delete all sent items 2- restart the phones
U can try it.. i try it works! em.. 1 more thing don't delete all the sent items by choose delete all sent items.. delete 1 by 1.. because some of the sent items won't delete..
