I have the philips mcm530 micro system and want to tune in a wireless speaker to the system so I can take the speaker outside. Is that possible?

I have the same issue. To my knowledge there is no Mac support for the MCM530. We use the Aux and plug it in to the headphone jacks of our Mac (or PC). The sound quality is excellent and it will play anything your computer will play.

If it has an aux imput all you need to do is get a dock (which will keep the battery charged while playing) or the cheaper way - by connecting a 3.5mm plug to two RCA phono plugs- lead. The 3.5mm plug goes into the headphone output of the I-Pod and the RCA's go into the Aux imput of the Philips.
It can be any imput on the amp (except phono) such as CD or tape.
You will find that you need to turn up the volume on the I-Pod to hear the sound.

you answered your question. let me explain: the head phone plug is a switch- that disconnects the speaker and only allows sound to the headset. the switch is either broken, loose-wire or dislodged.need to get inside the unit, You could of course get creative. put an adaptor to the headphone jack;the adaptor can now allow you to run wires to the speakers. adaptor is avail from radioshack-same size as on the headset.

Usuallly on eBay - but you'll pay a lot for it.

After try without success to install the cd driver and program from Philips, go to device manager and replace the device driver "Philips composite USB" (or something like that) pressing right click and the first option (update driver). Then the second option (find in this computer), then "choose from a list" and use the "Philips composite USB-Hifi device". Windows advertise that is not signed but continue anyway.
It should work, does for me.
