How do I get the back off of my 42LG50? - LG 42LG50 42 in. LCD HDTV

If you mean the original stand, place the TV LCD panel down on a table that is covered with a soft cloth. Look at the bottom center of the back of the TV and remove the 4 Philips head screws. Once the screws are removed, pull the stand away from the TV. The base can be removed from the stand body by removing another 4 screws that are at the top of the stand body.

I hope this helps. If you have put a third party VESA stand on the 42LG50, you may have to remove the TV from the stand to reach the mounting plate.

You either have a faulty 24vdc circuit in the power supply, defective inverter, or a bad back lamp(s). The inverter boards will be on either the far left or far left and far right, if your set uses two inverters. Proper troubleshooting will need to be done before the fault is isolated.

Unplug the set from the wall then install the USB video and plug TV back in and to it on, this time it may recognize the connection.

If under warranty still you might want to contact LG as there may be a firmware update to fix this issue.

On the back of the TV, there are 4 screws holding the stand. Remove the 4 screw and the stand will slide out from the bottom.

Did you buy it used? I bought one new and it came with the base. I don't use it though because I have it mounted. My email is [email protected] . Drop me an offer and I may dig it out of my closet.
