Most ordinary petrol engines can cope with up to 10% diesel (in warm weather) in the fuel so it isn't really necessary to clean the fuel tank and lines - it is sufficient to drain the diesel from the fuel system and refill with clean fuel of the correct type.

squirt some gas in the carb and start it up it will only run for a few secs so quickly keep squirting gas in ,but not to much as to flood it and that should burn the diesel out and shortly it should keep running

If you did not try to start it, you will need to siphon, pump or **** out the fuel tank. The last J.D. that I emptied the tank in I used a turkey baster to draw out the bad fuel. I guess you use what you got. Hopefully your fuel is pumped to the engine and the fuel line goes into the tank from the top. If so all you have to do is empty and replace with gas. If the fuel line drains the tank from the bottom and/or you tried to start it with diesel in it you will need to (after emptying the tank) remove the fuel line from the carb. and direct it to a container, remove the bowl nut of the carb. to drain carb. be ready to clean up a little spilt fuel catch if you can or have rags under and ready. Turn the ignition key for engine to turn over to operate the fuel pump and clear the line. Put a little gas in tank and flush fuel line by using fuel pump to clear. Change fuel filter and put everything back together. Remove and clean/replace spark plug. Test it. Inspect spark plug again if necessary.

JUST DRAIN OUT GASOLINE IN FUEL TANK.CHANGE FUEL FILTER AND.FILL UP TANK WITH DIESEL FUEL. ENGINE WILL RUN ROUGH UNTIL ALL GASOLINE LEAVES THE FUEL LINES.

drain gas tank, fuel lines. replace fuel filter. refill gas tank with diesel. bleed fuel lines and fill fuel filter with clean diesel.

Don't run it until you've completely drained and flushed and refilled the fuel system, tank, lines, pump...
Don't run it! Diesel fuel is more of an oil whereas gas is more volitile... Avoid starting or running to prevent any damage to your engine!

The "MOST EFFECTIVE
" way is to REMOVE The FUEL TANK and DRAIN it By Tipping it over to Pour From FUEL INLET HOSE. Im Sure you Dont want to Here this as it Requires Much WORK . , BUT It IS The MOST EFFECTIVE Way to EMPTY The TANK.

HAVE YOU CHECKED THE FUEL LINES WHERE THE FUEL PRIMING PUMP IS CONNECTED FOR ANY CHAFFING THEY ARE COMMON FOR CHAFFING BESIDE THE FUEL FILTER WHICH WOULD EXPLAIN WHY FUEL IS RETURNING TO FUEL TANK.

not good.....need to drain tank first and refill with correct fuel...then you will need to drain and flush the fuel lines and injector pump....bleed the pump and lines and injectors and cross your fingers....good luck

I would recommend draining the tank, replacing the fuel filter, you will probably have to replace the spark pugs as well. You may want to also blow out the fuel lines if easily accessible. Put in new gasoline, a fuel system additive, and run it for a little bit (may get some smoke for a bit, and my be hard to start at first and run rough). Hope this helps.
