There are alternative ways to download and install applications on an android mobile device without referring to "Google Play". Android application files are usually .apk files. For the case of actually downloading and installing Google Play, just search for "Google Play apk" file. Sites like "APK4Fun" have most common android application files available open to download. But using .apk files from sources other than "Google Play" isn't always a secure thing to do, so choose at your discretion. If you are having problems installing the application or even downloading it, try a PC android device manager like "MobileGo" by Wondershare. Install the application on your PC and via USB connect your android device to the PC. Make sure USB Debugging is enabled on your device and the device is sync with the PC and not just charging. Once the MobileGo program identifies your android device you can install .apk files to your android device via PC by choosing install app and finding the .apk file on you downloaded on your computer.

Avoid browsing with embedded browsers if you have a vulnerable version of Android. Stick to a dedicated browser app like Firefox or Chrome.

Hi, if the google play store is installed in your device that is the best way to install play store apps. Installing apps from a browser such as Opera Mini is not recommended. If you don't have the google play store app, you can follow these steps to download and install it:

1) Enable the checkbox at Settings -> Security -> Unknown Sources, don't worry about any warnings unless you are not sure about the safety of something you are installing.

2) Open a browser on the device you need to install Play Store on and go to this link: http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/google-play-store/, you will have to wait 10 seconds before the Download button works

3) Download the latest version unless you have an older android device, and use any file manager to install the file by simply opening it and following the instructions, disregard any warnings. It should be in the .apk format.

**Note: If you have an Android OS before 2.3, you will need to choose an older version and check to make sure it's compatible. For 2.2 refer to this link: http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/google-play-store/google-play-store-3-7-11-android-apk-download/

4) Simply open the Play Store and follow onscreen instructions to login and start installing those apps!

Google is the default home page in your Chrome browser. Use the browser to locate and download your apps, if they are not available from the Play Store. The play store can be found at play.google.com, if it is not on your tablet.

If this is an old device, with an old version of android I think 2.2 or 2.1 or below, you cannot update from android market ( original play store name) to play store because it isn't compatible. .. is n9 longer supported.
