What do the control buttons do on a Hotpoint Ice Diamond R134A do please?

Could you please recheck for the model number. R134A is a reference to the coolant used in the freezer mechanism.
Orange is often a reference to the 'Fast Freeze' function being turned On. Green is showing the freezer unit is at the correct temperature. Red is warning the freezer is Too warm. Some freezers are fitted with an 'Economy' function where the freezer can be run at a lower power level when not used regularly such as when on holiday.

Not making enough ice

Thank you for your inquiry, Herb!

I see that your Frigidaire refrigerator, FGHB2866PF, is not making enough ice. When is the last time you changed your filter? It is recommended to change your filter every six to nine months. If the filter is dirty the icemaker will not produce. You may also have a frozen water line and you can perform a manual defrost in order to clear out the line. To manually defrost your line you would need to disconnect power from it for at least three to four hours. If that does not correct your issue you may need to have a professional technician out to perform a diagnosis and repair. I hope this information is helpful. -Matt

My food deep freeze seems to run almost all the time whats wrong

If the machine is running all the time a few things could be happening, The defrost timer could be bad, but if that is the case then you should see a build up of ice forming on the wall that covers the evaporator coils. Another situation is that your machine is low on freon and not reaching a temperature cold enough for the temperature control to shut the machine off. Third and last the temperature control itself could be bad and thinks the machine isn't cold enough. in that situation you would notice ice build up as well. Hopefully this helps.

I have a GE Profile fridge PSS25MGNAWW with an ice maker that is not working properly. The ice maker doesnt fill with water. If I turn the ice maker off then back on it will squirt water in for about...

HI this is just a test the icemaker runs when you first turn it on, its not suppose to fill up the tray, it will fill it when the icemaker reaches the correct temperature, if its not cold enough in the freezer it wont kick on, if its been sitting for several hours and still wont fill or make ice, you need a new icemaker. The new icemaker part # is WR30X10093

Ice forming on copper pipe coming from compressor

Hi, It is not uncommon for the suction line on a unit to have ice on it when cooling. This means that where the ice starts forming on the line, there is liquid freon there. But, if it continues to get worse, would indicate a problem as you don't want liquid freon to enter the compressor as it will burn out the valves, or slug it as we say. Icing of this line can be from a few things. Low on freon will cause it to ice up. The freezer fan/evaporator fan motor not working. The freezer iced over real bad. An over charged system will do this, but you haven't had to charge it. Check the fan I mentioned and keep an eye on this line and monitor the units temperature. If you start to loose your cooling then we need to go from there. I can't prevent it from forming ice unless I was on site to install my service gauges to check the internal condition. Please keep me posted though. If the freezer fan is not running, this would be the problem and would need to be replaced. If you had excess to a volt meter and it wasn't running, you could check power to this motor. Let me know if it is not running and check the temperatures closely.
Good Luck,

Manitowoc SD 0852A ice maker compressor will not kick-in

Here's my thoughts, I hope it helps. I'm going on foggy memory here, so I may not be entirely correct.
I worked on something like this a few years ago. The icemold (plate) is vertical, there is a circulating pump that runs water over the mold, with the water freezing as it passes. The sealed system is a heat-pump scheme, it freezes the mold to form the cubes, and reverses to heat for release. And when it works, it makes ice fast. It runs constantly until the ice hopper is detected to be full. (there should be a bail to detect the ice level) The system will not run in the event that it thinks the hopper is full (bail up) but the pump motor runs continuous to avoid it freezing. There is probably either a false detection of "full" or there may be a leak in the sealed system and the system will therefore not run.

Very thick ice collects in bottom of freezer

the drain pipe you cleaned out has a p-trap that holds water. after awhile this trap will build up sludge and possibly freeze up. i recomend defrosting the drain pan again and try some way to forcfully flush hot water thru the drain. I use a turkey baster filled with water to do this. if the drain continues to freeze you may need to install a heat trap to keep drain from freezing.
a heat trap is just a piece of 10-12 guage solid copper wire with about 3 inches in the drain and the other end wrapped around the defrost heater which is the BLACK rod attached to the bottom of the evaporator coil in the freezer compartment. if you need any further assistance just let me know Peyton
