Video capture How do I hook up my video camera to my video card in order to capture clips

Hook it up to a Firewire (i.Link or IEEE 1394A) port. If you don't have one on your computer, then consider buying one. Most video editing software have a "Capture" mode, and work with all Firewire devices, without additional drivers or other software.

Firewire is the cheapest and cleanest interface. Otherwise you have to resort to video capture devices (both USB and expansion cards). USB capture devices have a wide range of capture quality. Expansion cards will be more expensive than Firewire cards, although more versatile since you can also hook up VCR's and and other video devices. Both tend to need more powerful computers, since video conversion is very compute intensive.

You can use A/V interface to connect the Camcorder to the Computer and transfer the recordings.
In order to use the A/V interface, the computer should be equipped with an A/V capture card which has the A/V input port.
If you doesn't have the A/V port in your Computer, you may purchase an A/V capture card to connect the Camcorder.
It will not cost more to purchase an A/V capture card.
If you purchase the A/V capture card, you can also connect any devices like VCR, Cable Box etc and capture the videos in Computer.

If you have A/V capture card, you can use Windows Movie Maker to capture the recordings.

This model has iLink: IEEE 1394 firewire port. If you don't have a firewire card, you can probably find one pretty cheap on the internet (try ebay).
Windows has movie maker, which when the camera is connected, will allow you to capture the video from the camera on the comptuer, although there is no DVD burner software at least on the XP version (not sure about Vista). I use Nero for the whole process: capture, edit, burn to DVD.

You would need a Video capture card to do this you can capture it raw then convert it into DVD format. You can get a capture card from any computer store like frys.com,bestbuy.com or tigerdirect.com hope this helps

directly capture ur video in pinnacle thru ur usb cable provided , or see if there is any software cd provided with ur camera , select capture video from source in pinnacle and then select ur camera if it appears there , other wise if u r camera has firewire 1394 connection port it is like mini usb port , then u need a pci firewire card for ur pc and a firewire cable to connect ur camera directly to pc and then it will sure appear in the pinnacle list of capturing devices then directly cap the video in whichever format u like say mpeg2 for dvd like videos and then u can edit, this firewire port is normally incl in the new laptop series nowadays

If your camera has the video and audio output option, and you get the optional cable set to get the video and audio to feed your computer. You will need a video and audio capture card installed in to the comuter.

Depending on the setup, you may need to search for the necessary software to feed the camera video and audio out with the computer. In many instances, this would work using the software that comes with the capture card.

CCD-TRV138 is analog camera and you can not attach directly with PC. You need MPEG Card or something in PC to digitize the analog audio-video signal. That card will give you input connections for camera.

You need to have an analog capture card on your PC, so that the analog video be converted to digital, if its already on your hard disk(video data, you can record it to disk or whatever you want(share, upload etc.). But its a tricky one, you should be familiar with video formats, AVI, MPEG etc, there are cards that can capture directly to MPEG, but in order to minimize data loose, capture it in AVI format, edit, render then burn to disk. As far as i can tell, your Nvidia is only capable of outputting video, if you wish to input video from your camcorder you will need a video capture card. the cable will then depend on the configuration of the card, but may well be a standard s-video cable. Try a quick visit to a computer store, and see what video capture devices they have to offer, if you need more advice on these then please ask. An alternative solution would be to hook your camera to a stand-alone dvd recorder using the s-video connection. You should then be able to watch and edit this footage in your pc - you will probably need some software to do this(ask if you need help), but you should be able to at least view your footage in windows media player or similar. The cheapest option may turn out to be replacing your camera with a digital one that can be directly linked to your pc through a USB connection or similar. all the processing of the image is done by the camera and the software that comes with it, so no need for a graphics capture card.
