the cycle knob has many tongs with contacts inside of it and they got pitted or bent from turning it the wrong way. replace it or take apart and fix but is complicated but possible . other than that there are relays under the motor that changes to spin and wash transmission cycle. one can manually push the relays with a screwdriver to test it.
the cycle timer is beginning to sieze because it needs oil. disassemble washer to the point where you can apply small drops of 30W machine oil to the timer's bearings
