Windows 10 won't recognize my Lumix DMC-FZ40. Is there a firmware update or driver update that might help? My firmware version is 1.0.

It's not the firmware, it's the software on your computer. You need to update Adobe Camera RAW. You can get it here for Windows or Mac.

Please reinstall your camera drivers.Uninstall it first from the control panel add/remove programs and then with the disc provided to you install the drivers.

You don't need any special software.
The best way to download videos (and pictures) from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy videos and pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or, despite what I said first, you can use any photo/video cataloging program, such as Windows Photo Gallery, Windows Movie Maker, iPhoto, iMovie, or Picasa.

In the menu system of the camera, scroll until you find "copy" where you are given the option of copying the internal memory to a card in the camera.

Having received no response to my query in over two months, I assume my suggestion to use a card reader solved the problem.

if you are referring to the firmware of the camera ..this should be available on the support site from Panasonic..(Lumix)...and on the download area choose firmware and see if they have any updates..
If you are talking about the driver for Pc connection ..this will be in the driver area,, but usually Lumix do not need any drivers but work on Microsoft operation systems directly ..
To get on the support site ..just type Lumix support on the search engine ..and see the result..

I am having the same problem *with a Lumix card reader* using Windows 10. Yes, it recognizes the USB port, but not the card reader...is there a W10 driver I need to download?

For one pic at a time, bring up the pic you want to delete and press the button with the trash can icon. Follow the on-screen instructions. To delete all pictures at once, just go into the menu and find "format"...follow the on-screen instructions.

After three months of trying and trying in many computers, following many, many procedures found all over the Internet, my Creative Nomad has accepted the firmware and has borned again.
What I did?
1. Connected the Nomad on a computer with Windows XP and Windows Media Player 9, that never has been touched by a creaive device.
It recognizes the device but can´t find any update to the drivers,
2. Updated Windows Media Player 9 to Windows Media Player 10,
3. Restart the computer
4. Connect the Nomad and the computer recognizes the device and autamtically search and found updated MPT drivers.
5. Run the firmware update program "ZenXtraP4SAudible_PCFW_LB_2_10_03 (Creative Zen Xtra PlaysForSure Firmware 2.10.03)"
6. Finally the magic button always has been disabled was enabled so start reloading firmware.
And now the Nomad is working in windows vista.

The difference between the computer where the firmware works and the others is that this has never had media player 10 or 11 and never has installed creative drivers.

Just go & download the free Google Picasa 3 program. It is a good viewer & downloads images from a wide range of camers.
