My Kitchen Aid model# KBFS22EWMS9 is not making ice. Water is formimg in bottom of freezer and freezes to ice. I can't really see where water is coming from.
It's possible it looks as if the water is comimg from like the back wall inside the freezer vent piece. Also i might have water leaking elsewhere. Water comes out of water dispenser just fine. I don't have a filter on. I just have the plug in it.

The drain is plugged up from ice and debris that comes off the food in the normal process of working. You may have to remove the back panel in the freezer and pour hot water in the drain area at the rear bottom if the freezer under the coils. After thawing the ice it would be a good idea to run a short piece of 1/4 inch plastic hose, maybe about 18" or so, down the drain to push any debris through the hose. Flush it out well with hot water and this should be good for several years.
My kitchen aid bottom drawer freezer kept melting and freezing to block the drain and then water would leak out all over the floor. I did the WHOLE fridge/freezer defrosting process once, when i really just needed to do the bottom. I have had issues with other Kitchen Aid (NEW BTW) appliances so I've talked to many repair people. One guy who came out to fix something else, told me that the freezer is really a pain to get to close completely. SO, when you don't close it all the way (Extra push) it will melt and then re freeze when it is closed properly. He suggested I take everything out, leave it open and use a hair dryer on the ice until it melts. Then use a wire hanger to unplug the drain to make sure its draining properly.
It works! You really have to make sure the drawer is shut ALL the way. I have a 2 yr old who is constantly opening it up...this is my issue! The seal is not that great and you have to really push it closed to prevent the ice build up issue.
if neither one works that usually is the water valve located on the back of the fridge. Try this manually fill the ice make with a glase of water and check the temp. in the freezer. you can reach in and touch to see if water is freezing in ice maker. see if it dumps the ice then surly the valve is bad
if you can move everything out unplug it ,turn it off w/ doors open, you can put pans of hot water in the freezer to speed up the process 12 to 24 hrs this will free up any clogged tubes. After its completely defrosted Only turn it up to 4 or 5. Good luck.
The drain under the evaporator is frozen/plugged. You can take the back panel inside the freezer off and run hot water down it to thaw it out completely and this will solve your problem.
