The shut down may come from a safety standpoint, whereby if a heater gets too hot, lines get plugged, or chambers are not filled with water as necessary; the unit could shut down accordingly. Try to clean the ports/lines/ and cup holder. Fill water to line (Not Over the line) and descale to clean the interior chamber.

Here is how you determine the size of loaf you can bake in your machine. You need to determine the capacity of your pan. Fill your pan with water and measure the cups added so you know how many cups of water are in the pan when it is full to the very top. Here are the conversions:

1)If your pan holds less than 10 cups of water you can make: a 1 pound loaf

2)If your pan holds 10 cups of water you can make: a 1 pound loaf and a 1.5 pound loaf

3)If your pan holds 12 cups you can make: a 1 pound, 1.5 pound, and a 2.0 pound loaf

If you get a digital display but the machine does not run in whole wheat cycle, you should know there is a 20-30 minute rests period allowing the ingredients to warm up and the flour to absorb moisture before kneading begins.  It appears the machine is not functioning but it is just part of teh whole wheat cycle.

Check the screens inside the water valve. They get plugged sometimes. Also check both ends of your hoses. When installed most companies put screens or screen (1) in the cold water line at the valve.
