Need help editing AoE 2 so it will work as a CD version

I installed my frends DVD version of AGE OF EMPIRES COLLECTORS EDITION because i got a new computer and my CD version was too damaged for instalation but not for playing. But now i found out that because the install cd was a DVD and my disk is a CD, i can't play the game with my CD. I'd aprieciate it if anyone could send me an e-mail with a fix or atleast tell me that it's impossible.

You shouldn't need a patch to complete installation. The most common reason for an incomplete installation, in my experience, are incompatible drivers. Go to your hardware manufacturer's sites and get some updated drivers and see if that fixes your issue.

It is just an expansion pack. You must first completely install AOE 3, then the expansion pack will have the directories it needs to install to already created for it. If you have the first CD in the GOLD pack, reinstall from that first then try the Warchiefs disk.

Can't install War Chiefs and Asian Dynasties.
Since you just copy-pasted AoE 3, the installation registry keys were not created. When the expansions are installed, they check Windows Registry first to make sure that AoE is installed. If you have the disk for the original AoE, try reinstalling it. You should then be able to install the expansions.
