You need to do some more diagnosing of the problem. If you get sound and change channels take a bright flashlight and place it again the screen. Look for an image around the edge of the flashlight.
If you see an image that means the LCD controller board (TCON) is probably good.
The problem is probably one of three causes;
1) Inverter board is bad
2) CCFT (cold cathode fluorescent light) are bad.
3) Power to the inverter board is bad. You can also check the connectors.

Sorry not a solution just confirmation of similar fault on a Samsung 32" . I to have this problem which appears to be getting worse . started with 1 mark and has now spread to about 20% of the screen albiet numerous marks. It appeared after 18months to 2 years after purchase in 2006 so now 4 years old. I've accepted there's nothing to be done and out of warranty. Problem is purchase a new set Samsung or another. But will I have the same problem 2 years after??

It would be a lot cheaper if you just replace the two caps that have gone bad. Just get a cheap solder pencil from the store and about an inch of solder and you are in business.
The Power Supply Board is the center Board (towards left) after you remove the back off the TV. Remove Board from TV with the 6-7 screws. Replace capacitors CM852 & CM853; 2200ufd 25volts.
