There is a Battery Type setting in the Menu of your camera.
Do the following:
- Press Menu/ Ok button
- Go to Set- Up 2
- Select Battery Type
Under Battery Type there are two options:
- Alkaline- if you are using non- rechargeable batteries
- NiMH- if you are using rechargeable batteries
SOURCE: samsung S630 date gets reset while changing the batteries
It is really NORMAL that the date will be reset to the Manufacturer's date whenever you are changing batteries.
For you not to keep on changing the date and time of your camera, use Rechargeable batteries for a longer battery life span but make sure that you will be setting the battery type of your camera for the Rechargeable ones.
To set the correct battery type.
- Press on MENU button
- Press on the right button until you see SETUP 2
- Scroll down until you see BATTERY TYPE
- Select ALKALINE if you're using NON-RECHARGEABLE
- Select Ni-MH if you're using RECHARGEABLE
- Press on OK/MENU button for changes to be saved
Turn off camera after the settings
have been changed to refresh the camera.

I am Judy Malone in Tenn and I had my camera all in box and ready to mail back to place listed on camera box. I had worked on camera for last few days and to no avail. I got the notice via email today and the usual steps that I've read before.
To take batteries out, insert again. And to hold the ON button to keep camera powered. Then press Center button OK and press RIGHT 3 times to Setup2...
Well, I could not get my camera to co-operate past the Press Right 3 times to setup 2. Only the usual screen with a few of the icons showing my battery had power. It would not do anything past this.
Well, I got mad...(smile) and figured something had to be wrong as it kept showing a 32 for picts and I knew I had taken 414 at least on my Lexar 512 MB (SD).
I thought something must not be aleigned properly..some pins inside or somthing, so I GENTLE tapped the camera against my kitchen table... First one side, then the other..and GUESS WHAT. My camera came to life and has been working fine since. I HOPE this is a permanent fix...as I love the camera and have said so.
So, for what it's worth...try this if everything else seems to fail...but please do it gently. And start from the beginning.
Take batteries out, then reinsert...and GOOD LUCK.
I will post again...and let you know if this continues to work.
I am amazed.

You can buy Litheum E squared batteries. They work long enough for you to change the setting on the camera. =/ but the same thing still happened to me...
