Is it true that if you have an I-pad 2 that you can't play Candy Crush anymore.I try to play it and it loads but when I hit play, it goes back to my home screen.

Sounds like you have a slowing issue due to a nearly full memory, dump programs or games you don't use anymore and see if the speed increases.

I'm certainly not a gamer, but in this case try restarting the iPhone.
If that doesn't help remove the app and do a fresh re-install from the app store. In-App purchases can be restored. I'm not sure if you retain your game status - again i'm not a gamer.

This is well known issue with lot of complaints.
You can try these:
- Kill the Candy Crush app from the "Settings/App" menu
- Clear the Candy Crush app cache
- Turn OFF all network connections (WiFi and mobile network)
- Restart Candy Crush
