Change the Device Language
Set the default language on your device to update the device menus, keyboard and default dictionary. Help for Kindle Oasis (8th Generation), Kindle (8th Generation), Kindle Voyage (7th Generation), Kindle Paperwhite (7th Generation), Kindle (7th Generation) and Kindle Paperwhite (6th Generation).
You can set your default device language to one of the following languages: English (U.S., UK), German, French (France, Canada), Italian, Spanish (Spain, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Colombia), Portuguese (Brazil), Japanese, Chinese (Simplified), Russian or Dutch.
When you select a new language, the device menus, keyboard and default dictionary will update automatically; the User Guide and any content downloaded to your Kindle will remain the same.
Note: When you change the language on your Kindle, the dictionary and keyboard for that language (if available) will automatically download to your device when connected to Wi-Fi. The default dictionary and keyboard will change based on the language of the book you're reading.
