We have a striker 1005 stretcher it has lost hyd fluid over time and cannot be raised to full height how could I fill it for use until new parts come in

guessing the deck is hyd lift system on it? does it sound like the pump is loading up? if not check the linkage from the handel to the valve body, there is most of the time a cotter pin the goes from the control rod to the valve body.

Sounds as if the input shaft seal for the hydraulic pump that is driven off the transmission is bad and allowing the fluid to enter the transmission housing. When the fluid gets too full it aerates and causes the "root beer float" fluid.

low fluid in unit and air in the system raise all the way up put safety lever down remove fill plug and top unit off replace fill plug then cycle up and down 3 complete cycles raise back up check fill level again you may hear air leak out when removing fill plug if low fill again repeat this cycle until unit stays full this should fix the problem if not the pressure relief valve is faulty if there is no external leaks

raise the head all the way up remove plug and fill with hyd fluid replace plug and try to jack it should go all the way up...i had same problem..

If you have steel lines, you should replace the fluid since it can absorb water over time and rust the lines from the inside, causing a leak. If there is a bleeder for the clutch, the easiest way to change the fluid is with a vacuum pump (mighty mite) connected to the bleeder. Ensure the resivoir stays full and use the vacuum pump on the open bleeder until you see the new fluid coming through then close the bleeder. If there is no bleeder you'll need a helper. Have someone hold the clutch lever down while you loosen the fitting that attaches the line to the slave cylinder and allow the fluid to escape. tighten the fitting and then let the lever back up and squeeze down again repeat the loosening and squeezing peocedure until you see the fresh fluid emerging. (Same procedure as bleeding the brakes except you use the fitting instead of a bleeder screw).

THEN TAKE NEW POWER STEERING PUMP ON INSTALL IN VECHICLE THEN BLEED POWER STEERING SYSTEM.FILL POWER STEERING PUMP UP NEW FLUID.WAIT FEW MINUTES.WHEN LEVEL DROP ADD MORE FLUID UNTIL YOU GET TO FULL COLD MARK.START ENGINE 15 SECONDS SHUT OFF CHECK FOR LEAKS. NOW CHECK POWER STEERING AGAIN ADD TO FULL COLD MARK.NOW RAISE FRONT WHEELS OFF GROUND.START ENGINES TURN STEERING LEFT TO RIGHT WITH OUT STOPPING IT DO SEVERAL TIMES THEN CHECK FLUID.ADD TO THE COLD MARK DONT OVER FILL.IF FLUID LOOKS TAN HAS AIR BUBBLES IN SYSTEM WAIT A WHILE UNTIL FLUID SETTLE CHECK FLUID LEVEL.DONT DRIVE VECHICLE UNTIL STEERING FEELS NORMAL.AND IF YOU HEAR NOISES.LOCATE PROBLEM FIX BEFORE DRIVING VECHICLE.

TO BLEED POWER STEERING SYSTEM.TO DO THIS.FILL THE POWER STEERING RESERVOIR TO COLD FULL MARK ON DIP STICK.WAIT A FEW MINITES,FLUID LEVEL DROP ADD MORE FLUID UNTIL REACH COLD MARK ON THE DIP STICK..WAIT FEW MINUTES.START ENGINE LET IT RUN FOR 2 OR 3 SECONDS.TURN OFF ENGINE CHECK POWER STEERING FLUID ADD MORE FLUID.DO THIS UNTIL FLUID LEVEL STOP DROPPING.WHEN FLUID LEVEL STOP DROPPING.SAFELY RAISE FRONT OF THE VECHICLE UNTIL FRONT WHEELS DONT TOUCH THE GROUND.START ENGINE UP.TURN THE STEERING WHEEL GENTLY FROM STOP TO STOP,CHECK THE RESERVOIR FLUID LEVEL LOOKS GOOD TURN OFF ENGINE LOWER VECHICLE .LOWER VECHICLE TO GROUND. LET VECHICLE SET FOR 2 MINUTES CHECK POWER STEERING FLUID LEVEL.IF STILL LOW ADD LITTLE MORE.TO THE COLD FULL MARK ON DIP STICK. DONT OVER FILL BECAUSE FLUID LEVEL RISES WHEN IT GET HOT.WHEN DONE IF STEERING WHEEL STILL FEEL HARD TO TURN YOU SEE AIR BUBBLES IN FLUID THATS WHEN FLUID HAS A TAN LOOKING COLOR WAIT 5 MINUTES AND.REPEAT THE BLEEDING PROCESS. DONT DRIVE OR OPERATE VECHICLE ON HIGHWAY UNTIL POWER STEERING HAS NORMAL OPERATION.

raise front loader....loosen hyd. line a little lower loader till all air is released and only fluid is coming out and retighten.....its like bleedig brakes on a car

You need to raise the vehicle and start it. Remove the plug near where the passenger side driveshaft comes out. The head of the plug is 7/16. Trans fluid will stream out of the hole when the engine is running when the transmission is full, If fluid doesn't run out, fill the trans until fluid runs out. The fill cap is red and it is on top under and around the air cleaner box. If you need more help let me know.
