Many tablets will reduce the screen size by making a "pinching" motion with your thumb and index finger in contact with the screen - and expand screen size by doing the opposite motion on the screen.
tablet screens ,phone screens and ipad screens are adjusted by placing the thumb and finger apart and sliding then together across the screen in a pinching motion. the reverse motion will enlarge
Try restarting it: hold power button down until "slide to power off", power off for 10 seconds, press power to restart.
if that doesn't fix it, reset your iPad: hold BOTH power button and Home button until device resets and apple logo appears.
