GLTF530D door locked but not shut I cannot close door

I've had a strange issue with my drivers door the last week. I go out and unlock my door with wireless clicker. Then I reach in put the key in the ignition start the truck, make sure the defrost is on. Then I step away and slam the door, 'bump',,, I look back, the door did not click shut, again I slam the door 'bump'..it does not click shut. Bump Bump Bump...I try to shut it...then I reach in and push the lock/unlock button , lock/unlock...lock/unlock...on the door..click..click...it does beep or the horn toots..remember trucks key is in ignition , truck running, and I'm clicking the button on the inside of the door. Finally the door will shut and hold closed , once it was not locked,,,once it was shut and locked. I had to get my other set of keys to unlock the door.

the child safety lock is normally a small lever at the edge of the door and has no effect on closing a door
it just prevents the door from being opened on the inside
what may have happened is that the door lock mechanism is in the 1/2 closed position and will not allow full lock (close) to occur
place a small screw drive under the latch or tongue of the lock and pull out as you press the door handle as if opening the door
that should then place the latch in the correct position for latching the door when closed properly

look at the place where the lock locked in the door the metal pinns could be broken or covered with erosion or something. De door lock makes no contact with the receptor.

Here's something that might help you. Look at the door theres a little hook that grabs the striker on car, hold the door handle "open" and move the hook to the open position try to close the door. That should solve your problem. Hope that helps you.

Your door locks will not prevent your doors from closing, you should be able to lock the doors by hand and then close them with no problem. Take a look on the car where the door closes there will be a brass rod, this is your striker, it is what holds the door shut. This striker lines up with a latch in the door, the latch is on a spring and when the door is open it should be up, when the door closes the spring closes the latch around the striker. Check to make sure the latch is up, if it is not the door(when you try to close it) will typically bounce back toward you. If the latch is down you maybe able to take a flat head screw driver or prying device and twist the latch back up, this should allow your door to close. If you open the latch and it immediately closes it will need to be replaced. Hope this gets you on the right track.

open the door and look at the lock check to see if the lock is shut, it will look like a ( C ) if it is in the correct position for a open door. If the lock has locked while the door is open it will be in a closed position. if this has happened you will need a screw driver , and when while the door is open insert the key, and insert the screw driver into the lock mechnism and pop it open as you unlock it with the key

should like water has frozen inside the door on the mech, its probely released by now , or water has cause a short in the door electrics

Hello and welcome to FIXYA, it sounds like you have two problems, first the door ajar switches in your truck are sticking, and causing the ajar light to remain on, and second the door lock actuator is shorted and getting stuck in the lock position. To repair the switches, obtain a can of brake cleaner and spray the door latch of each door for about 3 to 5 seconds, then open and close the door 10 times to work the cleaner into the switches. To fix the lock problem, you must first pull up on the knob in the door panel to unlock it. Then remove the door panel, and replace the door lock actuator.

Program your factory keyless entry functions
For 2001+ Tacomas equipped with a factory alarm or keyless entry, here are some programming options that allow you to adjust the way your locks work.
The first programming option allows you to set the entry unlock to: (A) unlock the driver door with one push, and the remaining doors with a second push OR (B) unlock all of the doors with a single push.

• Open the driver's door. Remove the key from the ignition switch.
  
• (Complete these steps within 40 seconds)
  
  1. Insert the key into and remove it from the ignition switch 2 times.
     (IN - OUT - IN - OUT)
     
  2. Close, then open the driver's door 2 times.
     (SHUT - OPEN - SHUT - OPEN)
     
  3. Insert the key into and remove it from the ignition switch 1 time.
     (IN - OUT)
     
  4. Close, then open the driver's door 2 times.
     (SHUT - OPEN - SHUT - OPEN)
     
  5. Insert the key into the ignition switch and leave it in.
     
  6. Close the driver's door.
     
  7. Turn the key from LOCK to ON 4 times, ending at LOCK
     (LOCK - ON - LOCK - ON - LOCK - ON - LOCK - ON - LOCK)
     
  8. Wait for the locks to stop, then remove the key from the ignition switch.
     
• On the key fob, press and release both LOCK and UNLOCK buttons at the same time.
  
  1. [For all doors unlock] press and release the UNLOCK button.
     
  2. [For driver door unlock] press and release the LOCK button.
     
• Open the driver's door. The programming is complete. If programming did not occur, start over.

are you sure all of the doors are shut completely?
try taping the door shutting sensors to the body. ha
