On the konica minolta 5430DL we have in the office won't print because it says the waste bottle is full. Can I empty it and how?
Don't be conned out of your money by Konica or any salesmen. The waste bottle can easily be emptied. There is no sensor that 'gets tripped and can't be reset' this is bull*&%t. Just take the cartridge out. Go somewhere that you can dispose of the toner (make sure it's not windy !) then turn it to the 'locked' position. This opens the port, then just shake the thing back and forth for a few minutes. You can feel getting lighter. Then turn back to unlocked. Use a vacuum to remove toner from outside of cover, then a soft cloth or wipes to get it clean. Then put it back in.
The waster toner bottle should be located just inside the front panel. It will likely be marked with a green sticker with little black dots in the shape of a pyramid. Gently pull the bottle toward you, making sure to keep it upright to avoid spillage.
The bottle is replaceable. There should be two caps fastened to the back side that can be used to cap off the openings in the bottle for transportation or shipping.
Optionally, you can empty out the waste toner and reuse the bottle. However, toner is toxic and environmentally hazardous and should be disposed of properly.
It is crock that there is a sensor - nice try Buddy! Wear a disposable dust mask and disposable gloves and do it in your garage. Save yourself $ and the environment by doubling clear newspaper delivery plastic bags (make sure there are no holes), put the waste cartridge in it (with lever in locked position), remove excess air, twist top of inner bag a few times and tuck down, twist top of outer bag a few times and tuck down (or tie with twistie), and unlock waste cartridge. Invert entire assembly, gently shake back and forth for a minute or two (you will see bag fill with toner) until cartridge is empty. Relock cartidge and place upright and let sit for a few minutes so toner dust settles in bag. Spread a couple sheets of newspapers under your work ares, have a few damp paper towels on hand and reverse the process, carefully removing the cartridge by holding the bags and cartridge vertically. Wipe the cartridge off with the damp towels, making sure you get all the crevices and creases. I find it easiet by holding unit with a damp towel and wiping with one. It will take 4-5 towels. I carefully place the dirty towels in the bags, being careful not to stir up the toner or get it on myself. I place the cleaned cartridge on another piece of paper to air dry for 10-15 minutes while I carefully seal the waste in the two plastic bags. Roll in the sheets of newspapers with your gloves and mask. Voila! No contamination of your vacuum, yourself and minimum impact on the environment. Dispose of the toner waste properly.
This is explicitly for the Magicolor 5430DL, The process is similar for many other printers, but these instructions are for the type of toner waste bottle that the 5430DL uses.
If you choose to empty the waste toner bottle, I recommend starting with an empty office trash can, and have a few paper towels handy afterwards.
Open the front panel of the printer as though you are replacing a toner cartridge. On the left hand side toward the bottom of the printer is a locking lever which you rotate 90 degrees to unlock the bottle.Draw the bottle straight out.Place the bottle inside the trash bag locking end first (the toner enters, and in this case exits through a hole on this end of the bottle.)Hold the toner bottle by the other end ()preferably closing the end of the bag to prevent toner dust clouds.Rotate the bottle so the top (where the opening is) is below the bulk of the bottle, and the end of the bottle with the opening is lower than your hand. Some toner should spill out almost immediately. Shake the toner bottle lengthwise not too vigorously (it makes more of a mess to clean up) but with enough effort that you would expect sand in a bottle to shift significantly. Each time the bottle moves toward the opened end, the toner will shift toward that end, each time the toner bottle moves back toner will be dislodged out the hole by inertia when you stop the bottle to return the other direction.COntinue thie action until the toner stops coming out of the bottle. Wait a moment to let the dust settle, then open the bag, and lift your nearly empty waste bottle from the bag.At this point I recommend using a paper towel to brush off most of the powder on the bottle's exterior.Next use a very slightly moistened paper towel to wipe the bottle of more toner dust.Use another dry paper towel to remove any moisture from the bottle. If time permits allow a few minutes of air drying as well.Return the waste bottle to the printer.Return the locking lever tot the locked position (you should find it impossible to close the front panel completely without locking the bottle into place, as the locking also moves a block which does not allow a tab on the front panel to pass while the locking mechanism is unlocked (or if the waste toner bottle is not present). The printer should now (when powered on and the front panel is closed) cycle up, determine the waste toner bottle is not full, and allow printing.
I have done this for the Konica 5570 multiple times, you do not have to buy the new ones.
I have a Konica-Minolta Magicolor 5550 and emptying the bottle like they said above works just fine. At first the machine said that the bottle was still full. I took the waste cartridge out and on the end is a site glass. I noticed that there was toner through the site glass so turned the bottle up so that the site glass was at top and I tapped it so that the toner would drop into the cartridge and it works just fine...

Hello, The toner bottle has a level sensor and once its tripped you can't reset it. You will need to purchase a new toner bottle, part number 1710584-001 if you can't find one locally we have them for $35.00 plus shipping. Email me if you need to order one. Buddy Corporate Computer www.ccl-la.com
What a LIE. Don't EVER do business with someone that would cheat you just to make a buck! I removed mine like someone else posted here and emptied it into some bags and took to a recycle center. The bottle does NOT need to be replaced. Mine works fine now.
