Military Pay? So I'm enlisted in the U.S. army, i leave for basic July 18th. I signed to be in for 8 years, 5 of which are active duty. I was just wondering if during the 3 years that i'm not active, will I still get paid for that? Just wondering. It doesn't matter to me, I just wanna know.

If you are in the active reserve and drill one weekend a month and two weeks a year then you will earn pay for the drill period.
If you are in the Inactive or Ready Reserve you will get no pay.

I can't decide which branch in the military I want to join. I'm torn between the army and the navy. Any opinions?

Do you like sleeping in the mud or in a hot tent - join the Army.
If you want an air conditioned bed on a clean ship with hot showers - Go Navy.

What's the best route to take to become a fixed-wing pilot in the military?

I recommend joining the Air Force if you want to become a pilot however, people don't just become pilots after having a Bachelors. You have to meet the requirements, pass the exams and be medically cleared and in shape, this applies to all branches. On the other hand its a challenge that only you can decide. I recommend talking to the nearest recruiter.
