HDMI ports do not work after lightning storm

After a lightning storm neither of my HDMI ports work. The TV in question is a 50" Panasonic and the remainder of the TV works great using the other ports. Is there any way to fix this without replacing the TV?

Probably not, but your insurance should pay if you have a renter or homeowner policy.

HDMI 1 and HDMI 2 no longer work on my TV. What can I do to repair this?

Sounds like you have a bad input board and it is only time before you lose three. If it is under warranty get it in otherwise start tracking down the part. Most of these are a plug and play device once the tv is apart.

Only one (out of four total) HDMI input is working on my set.

The HDMI switcher IC chips in TVs can be damaged but lighting hits near you house even if the power is protected with a surge protector. The damaging power comes in through the HDMI port and blows the chip out and it can affect just one port or multiple HDMI ports. Your best bet would be to just get a cheap HDMI switcher and use the one working port. The repair on the TV would require placing the control board and would run from $75-150 for parts plus the labor to install it.

Panasonic Plasma TH-42PZ80U HDMI do not work after lightning storm

I don't have a solution, unfortunately, but your problem is nearly identical to mine. It even seems to have happened on the same date (7/27/12)! Do you live near Dener by chance? Anyway, we have Direct Tv, and ended up with 2 fried HD DVR boxes and 2 TVs on which the HDMI connections don't work after lightning hit close to our house on 7/27. Those boxes were replaced, as was part of the Direct TV dish. The only difference is, whereas on one TV component connections (red/white/yellow cables) allowed the TV to work normally, on the other (my 50 inch Panasonic Plasma TCP50S30) even the red/white/yellow cables did not work. Now I'm scouting the net for tips on what else to try before I possibly have the Panasonic looked at, which I am hedging on doing since I got it for only $600 new in the first place. Have you found out anything else since you posted this? Good luck to you...

Lightning Storm messed up one HDMI Input

Fault at its main digital board. Short circuited component/s at it. Contact any service technician; or the authorized service center. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts.

In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.

HDMI no longer output after lightning storm. ps3 still has all the data and can still output in composite. tried resetting and reboot and still not working

I would try another device that uses HDMI output and plug it into that HDMI tv input to ensure that it is not your tv that is at fault. If the TV is fine, more than likely something in your PS3 got fried. This is actually a common issue with the PS3 as you can see here:

http://www.ps3chat.com/playstation-3-hardware/7353-lightning-storm-ps3-hdmi-stopped-working.html

If your tv is fine you will more than likely have to call up Sony for a repair or a replacement. Lightning can do damage to any electronic device from up to miles away. EMF damage is a nasty thing. It used to wreak all kinds of havoc for the wireless internet company I used to work for.

I hope this helps! If it does, please give it a thumbs up!

Lightning storm and all hdmi connections stopped working

It may be a problem with the DVRs. You can rule that out by connecting a different HDMI TV to one of the DVRs.
