I NED A NEW TOMTOM DOCUMENT PACKAGE - Tomtom GO 730 GPS Receiver

There is no downloadable manual for the VIA 160 on the Tomtom web site yet.

However, install the Tomtom HOME software package available HERE on a PC. A link to an on-line manual is on the second menu page.

The TomTom device needs to tune in on three or more GPS satelites to find your position. On start, it scans the hemisphere for any satelites and ten minutes and more are not uncommon to establish fixes on them.

The solution is a data package you can download from TomTom servers via the Home software, "QuickGPSFix". It holds precomputed satelite positions for the next few days which speeds up locking to satelites to a few seconds from minutes. However, you need to update the package roughly once a week or the initial delay will pop up again.

This means it is not reading the SD card and that it needs to be re-formatted.

This is best done in a card reader and not the tomtom itself.
Right click on it and select format select FAT32 as the files system

Now connect the tomtom but don't let tomtom home run. exit TTH (TOMTOM HOME) if need be.

You now ned to select your tom tom which will also show as a drive.

In windows explorer select tools then folder options. Click view and tick the box for "show hidden files and folders"
It may warn you but you can ignore it.

Then just copy ALL the files from the tom tom to your sd card

DO NOT USE CUT AND PASTE !

Once all the files are on switch off the tom tom and insert the sd card

It should now work

I've just bought a tom tom and I got a tom tom plus card i ned to scratch off the back and then install the number i don't know how to do that on te website

uninstall and then reinstall the app again:

The unit was fully charged from the factory. Turned on thwe unit and followed simple directions to position my location. Rest followed.
