Whirlpool Oven, Ceran stove top

I have a Whirlpool Oven, Ceran (Schott) flat stove top.

Making Kuhlua, it boiled over on my stove top and now I have some black burnt residue that I cannot get off. For about a week, I kept sprinkled baking soda and a wet sponge on it. I'm thinking of using an oven spray cleaner but I'm afraid of ruining the surface.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanking you in advance,
Patricia

I have a spot on my ceran stove top that I evidently scraped too hard and the finish has come off. Is there anything that I can do to repair it?

I have two large stains on my black cooktop from when i burned bean soup. I have used the recommended Cerama Bryte and the stove looks like I've ruined it. Please advise. Sear's says it will not come off and they have had trouble with this product. Please advise.

I have large black smooth marks on my Schott Ceran - Whirlpool stove top which I cannot remove. The stove top colour is grey so these marks are very noticeable

I've tried stove top cleaner and a wet sponge a number of times

I also tried baking soda and lemon

I am thinking of using Easy Off oven cleaner but would like to know if this is safe for the Ceran stovetop.

I would also like to contact the manufacturer of Schott Ceran stovetops. I would appreciate any help in locating the manufacturer.

    Any help would be appreciated.

We have a very unsightly problem with our Schott-Ceran top. Some cooking waters boiled over and there are very noticeable black spots on the overn top. We tried recommended cleaners and razor blades on the surface top and the problem seemingly gets worse. I think there must be a defect in the material of the Ceran top. Please advise as the oven top is very unpleasant when having guest in our house.

    Thanks for an early response.

I want to say that since I posted my original problem with black spots appearing on the Schott Ceran top, I took pictures of the top and attached them to a complaint sent to Maytag. Approximately 3 days later, a Maytag representative phoned and offered a brand new top-basically stating that there is a fault with the tops. They would not pay for the labor to replace the top. My husband downloaded the instructions from Maytag website and installed it himself. These spots actually appear from within the surface and are not the result of a boil over, etc. The spots on my burner grew to the width of the burner. If you search the internet, you will see many others with the same problem with the Schott Ceran tops. I will never buy another!

I also have a grey Schott Ceran stove top and have some very large black spots, that I have tried to remove to no avail. I have never seen this on any other glass stove tops? Is this a defect. It looks dirty and unslightly. How do we get in touch with company.

I used oven cleaner and it worked! I tried everything before this. Let it sit for about 1-2 hours and then scrape with a razor blade. Looks like new

  • Anonymous Mar 07, 2009

I used oven cleaner and it worked wonders. Let it sit on the stain for a couple of hours, then scrape with a razor blade. After spending of this money for this stove, I would think it would not be this hard to clean. I have had my stove for 4 weeks.

Schott Ceran stove displays four dots after turning on

There are only two things you can do as induction cooktops for home use are new technology and also very unreliable, although Schott Ceran are the best of them.

Try doing a power reset, shut off the breaker for an hour or so.

Or

Call for service / check the warranty on it.

FAQ and a Contact Form.

Replacement knobs, but it should go by the numerical model number in the search query as well.

Whirlpool schott ceran induction plate doesn't get hot

magnetic gradeI have a SCHOTT Ceran glass ceramic cooktop as well, and soon realized that induction cooktops like this require that your metal cookware be in contact with the surface for them to heat up. Best cookware:
  • Cast iron pans
  • Any black metal pans
  • Stainless steel pans, if base is magnetic grade (magnet sticks to bottom)

Lifting the top to clean spills

Hi
Look under the counter top find the bolts that secures the stove top, unplug the power and remove the top, then look around the edges of the stove top and you should see some small screws that atach the glass to the frame, remove those and lift the glass carefuly, "DO YOUR THING" and then just reverse the steps and done.
