Try this method. Set the date until it reads a couple of days in the past and then set the correct time. Of course do not touch your date or time settings between the hours of 9PM-1AM. Wait until the next day, then move the hour hand forward until you reach the current date with the correct time.

If you plan on doing this yourself, find a nice heavy pair of needle nose pliers and put the ends in the knotches on the casing back. Have them as far apart from each other as you can and turn counter-clockwise. If you still have problems opening, put the watch in a vise with the lugs in the teeth of the vise. DO NOT tighten too hard or you will snap the lugs. It dosn't have to be tight , just enough to hold the watch while you turn the back. If you still have problems please let me know and we will find another way of doing this.Good luck!!

The button advances the numeric day. After the numeric day is advanced one full month, the month dial advances to the next month. I just about got a blister pressing the button enough times to advance the month from January all the way around to December. Then I had to advance the numeric day to the current numeric day. The previous person told you by turning the dial 24 hours you can advance the alphabetic day of the week by one day (Sun, Mon,etc.).

The winding stem of the caravelle has two positions when pulled outward from the case. Pulling it full out lets you set the time. And, by rotating the hands through successive twenty-four hour periods it resets the day of the week. Pulling the stem halfway out allows you to set the month, but only if you rotate the stem in a counterclockwise direction..
