My kindle is set up in the wrong language. How can I change it to english?

among the icons on the main page do you see something that looks like a gear? tap to see list of settings. Go to second set of icons to change info. At bottom of second set is circle with lines in it. This is keyboards and languages, tap. top of list is languages, tap and then tap small arrow on right of device. This brings up list of languages to choose from. 3rd down should be English US, 2nd is English for England.

From the Home Menu swipe down to get the pull down menu. Select the gear on the right hand side which is Settings. Select the Language option which you'll probably have to figure out by translating the word Language to whatever language the tablet is current set to.. If the menus are in the same order as in English it should be immediately after the Keyboard option which you may have to translate to the tablets language. The first option under Keyboard sets the language for the table. Select the first option. If those options are in English select English.

You can change the language by taking the following steps:

1. Tap the menu button(Icon of 3 vertical lines on the top right of the screen)

2. Tap settings(The 6th option)

3. Tap Device Options(The 4th option)

4. Tap language and Dictionaries(The 5th option)

5. Tap Language(The 1st option) and select English(UK or US) from the list.

6. Press OK on the top up window to restart your Kindle and the language will be set to English.

The language settings are only shown on the initial setup display when the Kindle is first activated as advised in the Kindle Support web site.

You may have to do a full reset of your Kindle to try to get back to the initial display to change language settings - try pressing and holding the power switch for 20 seconds to perform a reset.
