If your movies are recorded to SDHC cards, there may be software available that will enable you to recover them, provided you have not already overwritten them. If you have done so, then they are probably lost forever.
I think you can kiss them goodbye.....no way to retrieve them that I know of.

Solution A: make sure you are using the correct cable for what you are doing (eg USB for webcam and importing photos and Firewire for transferring video footage
most desktops have firewire plug in them but laptops don't usually
to get a firewire plug in a laptop you need a PCMCIA to Firewire Cardbus (ask your local retail store for one or buy one on ebay etc.)
after that put the cardbus in your PCMCIA slot and restart
then go to Windows Movie Maker and press "capture from video device"
