I have a Vizio D24-D1 TV that went dead after a lightning strike. I want to open the TV for inspection and repair but there are no screws to remove for removal of the back of the TV.

Lightning strike? Scrap it and buy new tv.

We can't predict what might have been happened during a lightning strike. If the TV is dead now; the main power supply regulator board [SMPS] board is fault. If so, you have to replace it first. then only we can get information about the condition of the main board. If the TV was connected to external Ariel or cable; before the lightning stroke; the possibility to damage to the main board too is there upto 80%.
In fact, if both of this boards are damaged, it might cost around 2/3rd of the total cost of a new TV.
The decision left to you. Do whatever you want.

The downside of a product getting a power surge is it will never be just right. It is not worth the cost to repair it. Consider buying a new TV instead. Suggest a Smart TV.

Yes,this tv is fixable.The Tuner board is dead,that the board,where the incomming broscating signal cable plug into it.Tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a refurbish Tuner board for the replacement.

I have the same tv, but the problem I have is the picture is shifted to the right and can not correct it. At 1700, its probably not worth fixing because to expensive to repair, they dont make it anymore

Lightning will create a lot more damage,the vertical circuit has become defective,the repair should not be expensive better be safe and call a qualified technician.
