I would like to assist you but I am confused as too your model and fuse you refereed too. Is this a Kitchen-Aid or a Jen-air model? Where is this fuse located? If I remember correctly in the Kitchen-aid model there was a single unit that had fuses with the harness and not on the lookup when you seek parts. But without more information I don't want to lead you down a goose chase. Get back to me and I will be glad to help. Thanks
I just put one of these in. You're right, there is nothing in the instructions about this, I had to figure it out for myself. Your kit includes two brackety-shaped steel brackets and two long screws. Look on the bottom of your cooktop, halfway between the front and back on the left and right edges and you'll see a hole on each side. They are the only holes on the bottom. Manipulate the brackets until you see that the hole in the bracket matches the hole in the bottom AND the bracket fits upward along the side of the cooktop. The flange on the top end of the bracket goes against the bottom of the countertop. It's useful to have another person lift each end of the cooktop while you insert the bracket from below. Once the brackets are in lace, center the cooktop so it's straight on the countertop, then screw the brackets to the bottom of the cooktop. They will tighten against the countertop and make the cooktop stop wiggling.
If it’s a range, there is usually a couple of screws that hold the front of the top down, remove the screws, lift the front of the top and pull it out from the back hinges. Install the new top, make sure there are no loose wiring. If it’s a cook top then make sure that the power to the cook top has been turned off, open the cabinet and look up. There should be a couple of brackets that secure the cook top. Remove the brackets, carefully lift the top and set it on the counter top (put a towel on the counter top first). replace the glass top (make sure there is no loose or exposed wiring), set the cook top back in the counter, secure it with brackets as was before, and double check your work.
If it were me, I would go to Home Depot or Lowe's and get a small roll of metal strap with holes every 1/2". Should be an easy find and easy installation
There should be removabe clamps attatched to the bottom of the cooktop which tighten with a screw to the bottom of your countertop. Loosen the screws to the countertop, then remove the screws that attach the brackets to the cooktop. The cooktop should then be able to be pulled out.
