My treadmill slows down lately on its own. What could it be?
My Weslo Cadence R5.2 treadmill Model No. WLTL29712.3 is starting to slow down by itself. I have to get off the belt for a few seconds then get back on then its back to the speed I set it on. It is doing this more often now. It is three years old today. Could it be needing a new motor belt?

The walking belt slows when walked on the walking belt maybe overtightened, treadmill performance may decrease and the walking belt may become damaged or the opposite the drive and /or running belt may need tightening. Last thing would be that the belt needs lubrication to be applied between belt and deck.
I believe under the motor shroud on the circuit board their should be 2 pots 1 adjusts torque 2. adjusts speed try adjusting them and see if that take care of the problem if not. worse case it might be the drive motor.
go to iconservice.com they have free manuals and also you may purchase replacement parts there as well. Be sure to get your model number before going to the site to make it easier (lower frame of the machine)
Good luck, Tim
