SOURCE: Kindle Paperwhite 1st Gen / Where is the battery

There isn't an active battery symbol, you can only see it at the top of the menu screen. There also isn't a percentage attached to the amount of battery time you have left, only an approximation.

SOURCE: How do I transfer my books from my Apple phone Kindle account to my new Kindle?

As long as they are both registered to the same account. You can transfer them by going to 'Manage Your Kindle' or they will be archived, as long as you downloaded the books via Amazon.

SOURCE: My Kindle Paperwhite will not download books - what do I do?

First reaction is to reset the tablet. Second check if you still can logon with your ID on the Kindel Store. Then try to buy a book. When the error keeps coming back goto the support page from Amazon with the link here:

SOURCE: How do i transfer a book on my kindle to a friend's kindle?

It isn't possible to do it that way. Your friend would need to sign into their own kindle account and "deregister" their kindle.(watch for this if you buy a 2nd hand kindle - has to be unregistered). You would then need to register your friend's kindle on your own account. That would allow you to share YOUR library but not his/hers. Then of course all ebooks would have to be bought through your account. Simpler to just lend him/her your kindle.

I have a Kindle Paperwhite and a Kindle Fire. I'm trying to get both devices combined in the same account.

If you got to the Amazon Kindle website (using a laptop or desktop is better because of the typing involved) and log in and re-register both devices to the same email and password they will automatically show up as two devices on your one Kindle account and you should be able to use them to share the books on your cloud. The way I understand it is if you have two different user ID's and passwords, you will have two different clouds.

How do I get books off the "on device" list but keep it on the "cloud"?

Yes, What Robert Moore1 said. Long touch on the book on the home page(s) and then select *Remove from device* .

Note: Adding a book to Kindle Paperwhite doesn't remove it from your Cloud. Your Cloud is your library. Only a copy of a book is downloaded to your Kindle. If you have another device such as an Android with the Kindle App installed you can still download the same book from the Cloud because it's always there.

How do I transfer my library from old kindle to my new paperwhite

Turn on your Kindle Paperwhite. On the home screen you will see under the icons on top --- Cloud ' Device.

Touch *Cloud*

This will take you to your library on the Kindle servers. Select those books you want and they will download to your device. Be sure you are connected to the free 3G or Wi-Fi so they can download to your device.

As they download you can click on *Device* to see them shown on your home screen.

I don't know of any way you can make a direct transfer from device to device. The key is all your books remain on theKindle Cloud so you have to download them from there.

Good Reading.

How do I navigate through my kendle books on device and in the cloud?

Eileen, is this a new problem with a previously functioning kindle.
From your question I'm assuming you can get to your home screen. Have you tried swishing the screen right to left. That action should turn the page. Also try taping the page at vertical center, right side, this should also turn the page. If tthe screen does not responsed to a touch you might try puttng the kindle on a harger. That has solved fome problems for me.

Books not showing on device

The paperwhite has Cloud(at top next to device) click the cloud to see if your books may be there. If so just tap each book and it will download to your device. If this does not work contact Kindle support. Sign in to account online. At top far right is support(click) on next page to left is a quick fix box. Tap contact us and fill in the requested info. You then have choice to send email, call on phone, video chat. I have used it often. It's free and they have all the answers.

Forgot passcode

Kindle Fire:
If you can't remember your lock screen password or PIN, you will need to reset your Kindle Fire.

Important: Resetting your Kindle Fire will remove your personal information (including your lock screen password or PIN), Amazon account information, and downloaded content and apps. Any content you purchased from Amazon is automatically saved to the Cloud. You can download that content when you register your Kindle Fire to your account again.

  1. From the lock screen, slide the Unlock Bar from right to left.
  2. Enter characters into the prompt ten times. You will receive several warning messages. Dismiss the warning messages, and continue entering characters into the prompt.

After you've entered the incorrect password or PIN ten times, your Kindle Fire will reset.

Kindle Paperwhite:

If you can't remember the passcode for your Kindle you'll need to reset your device.

  1. Transfer from a Computer to Your Kindle Paperwhite.
  2. You can't reset your Kindle Paperwhite if Parental Controls are set. If you forget your password, reset your Kindle by entering "111222777" as the Parental Controls password.

Important: Resetting your Kindle will remove all content downloaded to it. Any content that is already saved to Your Kindle Library in the Cloud will remain in the Cloud. You can download that content again if you register your Kindle to your account again.

    1. From Home, tap the Menu icon, and then tap Settings.
    2. Tap the Menu icon again, and then tap Reset Device. Your device will power off and power back on.
To use your Kindle again, you'll need to connect wirelessly and register your Kindle.

Books downloaded on kindle show up on the computer as being on the device but when looking on the device the books are not there

Does your Kindle have a Cloud location? My paperwhite does. Sometimes you have to open them on the cloud to get them to show up on the kindle.
