For some books, downloaded from your PC, the only way to delete them is to attach the Nook Simple Touch to your PC and open the Nook Simple Touch on the PC. Seems you have a bad charging cable. You might purchase a replacement new one from B&N directly but that costs a arm and a leg. Do some research on Amazon and Yahoo shopping. Compare prices and you might just be able to score two or more for the cost B&N wanted for just one. As these things tend to get worn out over time it never hurts to have a spare or two. This happened on my old Nook Color. After digging around a while on Amazon managed to get two for just under $10 and free shipping.
