CD burner not recognizing blank disc

I am trying to burn a DVD but Nero keeps kicking out the DVD. The DVD is defiantly blank. I know its not the program, because Clone DVD does the same. Its very strange I can copy CD's but not DVD's...and yes it is a DVD RW

    It aint that...Clone DVD does it as well..and I do select the DVD option on Nero 7

    Never encounter a problem with this brand of DVD's in the past...Same brand...It must be some virus that changed some setting...

Lol,don't worry i had the same thing,first make sure when you are writing a dvd you have changed the setting on nero to dvd,the progress bar at the bottom will change from 700megs to 4.7gigs... and its also depends wether you are writing 4,7 gigs or 8.4 gigs...try it out.

    Have you tried a different brand and/or type of dvd? Some cds are not compatible with certain dvd roms... DVD + is a better choice.

Sounds like the lens is dirty. Run a cd cleaner through the drive. That should take care of it.

1 Remove nero from your computer
2 Instal ashampoo burning studio
3 Burn anything you want

Lite-on DVD R/W combo LH-20A1L BLO5 Blank discs not recognized
Have you checked device manager to see if you have a yellow checkmark on your DVD./CD drives? if ok, sounds to me like the maker of the LH-20A1l BLO5 either needs to fix your problem or replace it. The Nero 7 should enable it to work correctly.

Don't wanna sound like a Doomsayer but I think it has burned its last burn...

Try to clean it first, if it still doesn't work, then it is time for a new one.

Had a similar experience and we found out that the drive had conked out.

Will write dvds but not cds ??
Try using nero to burn, be sure to select cd as the type of media... e.g Start > all programs >> nero >> data >> nero express .. Then
select cd, data cd,, drag some pics across and burn it.. If that dont work.. i hope u got warrenty... or if you wish to keep trying let me know

Sorry no solution, but why burn with mediaplayer/realplayer? you get better results with nero, or other burn dedicated software. Hope you work it out
