CRC error indicates bad sectors, try one thing:
open the data file from outlook and from there create a new pst on the destination and copy the mails, you may loose some mails but the rest of the data will be safe

I recently had a problem with my outlook pst files. The file is now repaired but my NTI Shadow backup gives me the error message: Error: Unable to copy file: Data error (cyclic redundancy check)

It's hard to imagine a PST file working if it actually has a CRC error. Idea: Make a COPY of your Outlook.PST file for safety. Try ScanPST on the original file (again, if you've run it already). You might want to delete the backup file in your NTI Shadow backup - perhaps that's where the CRC check is failing.

HI GOOD EVENING I AM UNABLE TO COPY MY MICROSOFT OUTLOOK 2007 PST FILE TO EXTERNAL HARD DISK. AFTER STARTING COPY FEW MINUTES LATER I FACE THE FOLLOWING PROBLUM CANNOT COPY OUTLOOK:DATA ERROR(CYCLIC...

A "CRC" (Cyclic Redundancy Check) is caused by an disk-drive error.

When you write a "block' of data to your disk-drive, a CRC value is calculated, and is also written to the disk. When you try to read that "block" of data, the CRC value is also read from the disk,
and a new CRC is calculated from the data. If the "new" CRC does not match the "old" CRC, then you have a "check" condition -- either the data was not written correctly, or the data could not be read correctly.

Now, did the "check" message refer to the "source" of the copying operation (namely your 'C:' drive) , or the "target"(namely the external drive) ???

Try to copy the PST file to another file on your 'C:' drive.
If you do not see the "check", then it is the external disk-drive that has a problem.
If you do see the "check", then open Outlook, create a new folder,
and copy a group of messages into the new folder. If Outlook reports that one of the messages could not be copied, then the disk-space occupied by that message is faulty, and must be excluded.

I downloaded some videos to my hard drive. When I try to burn them on or erase them from my DVD, I get this error: "Error 0x80070017: Data error (cyclic redundancy check)". What should I do? Note: ...

Cyclic redundancy is one of the data checking algorithms and it is getting a non-recoverable error for some reason.

I suspect the software you are using to burn the DVD may be corrupt or incompatible with your Vista operating system.

It ALSO might be that the video is COPYRIGHTED and you are being blocked from copying it to a removable medium. There is no solution for that situation.

Cyclic redundancy error

In simple terms, a CRC is bit of mathematics used to ensure that your data is OK when being transfered. It's a checking procedure that quickly identifies when data has been damaged. If you get this message, it means that the file being read by your PC or software is corrupted. However, it does not mean all the data is lost forever. When data is transfered, it is usually in small blocks and each block is given a CRC value. If something goes wrong with the data between the time it leaves the source and arrives at its destination, the CRC sent at the source will no longer match the one that is calculated when the data arrives - this is when the cyclic redundancy check error will appear,

All of the above is true, didnt write it myself copied it from a good friends post. It is probably the data itself that is corrupted. Doesnt mean the data is gone. Try running a disk defrag, if that doesnt work try copying it to a cd/dvd and see if you get the same error. If you dont, flash your bios. This should explain your problem, if it doesnt follow up with me, email address is kustom42 at gmail.com.

Your disc is scratched. That error will come up when it happens. Try to clean your disc. get all the fingerprints off of it.

Unable to copy files from cd

Hi,
Please check with the another disk if the same issue is coming with different disks this is a ODD issue otherwise the disk is faulty as cyclic redundancy means the data could not red from the sector of the disk.
Thanks

Cyclic Ewdundancy

cyclic redundancy means the actual data comosing the file has been corrupted. dvd shrink sometimes corrupts data when the compression is turned too high. CRC errors are problems in the base Hexidecimal coding used above binary coding that the proccessor uses.

Basically, you need to get new data cause that one is gone.
