Had this problem with my DC 23. It turned out to be a problem with power getting to the head. In the part of the hose that swivels, there are contacts inside that become loose. All I did was take that connection apart, bend the metal connectors so they will have a tighter fit and put it back together. I have had to do it twice since the first time I had the issue, but you can always replace the hose.

I have a Dyson DC 23 with the powerhead not turning on I tested the micro switches for continuity I've checked the hose the only thing I can figure is when I check continuity on the three wires on the hose the middle one gives continuity the left one and the middle one is a common ground and then the left one gives continuity to the left one but the right and middle somehow I have crossed paths? Is this possible

There is a sock stuck in the hose of my dyson dc23 animal motorhead how do I get it out

Hi, this is Jim with Crucial Vacuum,

Detach the hose and stretch it out completely, if the sock is in a hard to reach place use a broom handle to push it out. Be careful to mind the edges of the hose you don't want to cause a tear, which would lead to poor suction.

Why does my dyson power head keep shutting off

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

If your Dyson vacuum is DC23 Motorhead, you should be able to resolve this by checking for and removing any obstructions from the cleaner head, and removing any threads or hair from the brush bar and endcaps. Our Support video will walk you through the process:

Beater bars not turning

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulty with your DC23. This model doesn't include a traditional user-replaceable belt - the drive system is engineered to last for the lifetime of the machine.

If your machine is a DC23 Motorhead, please take a look at the video above to clear any obstructions from the brush bar and cleaner head, and to reset the machine.

If your DC23 includes an air-driven Turbine head, please follow the steps shown in our online Support guide to make sure everything is correct with your vacuum: http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc23/dc23-animal/my-machine-is-not-working/turbine-head-not-working-properly/check-the-plunger

If you'd like some further advice from our experts after you've given this a try, please contact the Dyson Helpline directly - you can reach us on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), or 1-877-397-6622 (CA).

If a repair or replacement part is needed, we'll be happy to confirm if this is covered under your vacuum's 5-year warranty.

Best wishes,

Jack

With my Dyson D23, my carpet power head attachment runs intermittently until it stops working all together.

Hi Megan, it's Jack at Dyson.

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulty with your DC23. From your question, I'm not sure if you own DC23 Motorhead, which has a motor-driven brush bar, or DC23 Animal, which has a turbine-driven brush bar.

You can find online troubleshooting guides for both of these machines on our Support site. I'd encourage you to select your machine from the list, then follow the diagnostic checks shown:
http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/cylinders.aspx

If you'd like further advice from our experts after you've given this a try, please call us directly on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), or 1-877-397-6622 (CA).

The motorhead will not turn on with my dc23 vacuum there is no clog

Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC23 Motorhead. Your cleaner is equipped with a safety device which shuts off the brushbar if it gets tangled with a rug fringe, shoelace etc. After making sure the brushbar is free of threads, hair or other obstructions, you'll be able to reset the cleaner and get the brushbar running again. The easiest way to do this is to follow the steps shown in our guide:

http://www.dyson.com/support/help.asp?article=1172&product=DC23-MOTORHEAD-US

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve your issue without further assistance. However, if you've tried this and are still concerned, it's probably best if you get in touch with us directly. You can call us free on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US). One of our experts will be happy to run through some troubleshooting over the phone with you, and will be able to recommend the best course of action. If it's necessary to replace the Motorhead, this should be covered by our 5-year warranty, as long as the cleaner has been used in accordance with the terms and conditions listed in the user guide.

Kind regards,

Jack

I have the Dyson DC23 with a Motorhead. Recently the motorhead has been cutting out but now doesn't work at all. We have checked for blockages and anything that may be tangled in it. It all looks...

My Dyson DC21 powerhead shuts off on its own. There is no blockage, I have reset the brushbar several times and cleaned the filters. I am frustrated! I want this problem fixed, I have had my vacuum well over 5 years :(
