It is mostly the power supply section which gets damaged due to power surge. In many cases the damage is repairable. Please contact some local TV tech.

It a repairable tv,most of the times the power supply board got hit with big power surges to the tv.Power tripped,turn it back on the outlet give to much juice to the tv at once.This can cause the power supply board to go into protection mode and shutdown problems or dead all together.Tries a reset by unplug,replug the tv like an hour later.The tv now,it resetting back to the factory setting.The tv should work now.Not,than the tv power supply board is dead.That the board,where the power a/c cord plug into it.Tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a refurbish power supply board for the replacement.

On-screen display (OSD) isn't coming up because you're only viewing picture from your Blu-Ray player. You need to switch TV input over to your receiver to get the OSD. But you probably figured that out by now. Don't worry, I've done that before too.

check your speaker wires make sure none are touching each other this will cause a short and shut the reciever down

replace all the electrolytic capacitors in the power supply. i had the exact same problem with mine and once i replaced the capacitors it powered up and stayed on and worked perfect.
these capacitors tend to fail as they're of poor quality.
this fault is very common on denon receivers, especially the later models.

Just inside the unit your power cord goes into a blackbox (like a coil of wire) that regulates the actual power the unit recieves, this maybe faulty and needs to be replaced but if this unit is out of warranty this maybe more expencive than a new one, the unit will still stay in standby but when you try to turn it on it draws more power and the supply control won't let it. I have had one of these units that has had the same problem in my work and it proved to dear to repair. Sorry hope this helped. You could try bypassing it but you would probably blow the unit up.

You likely had a power failure. You need to reset your AC adapter. Here's how:

1. unplug the power cord from the wii. Unplug the adapter from your surge protector or the power outlet.
   
2. wait 90 to 120 seconds. (Some people say to wait 30 seconds. Wrong! At least 90 secs is required for the AC adapter to rest.
3. plug stuff back in and you're good to go.

NOTE: electronics like your wii, ps3, etc should be protected from power surges and power failures! Plug them into a good surge protector. Always!

OK either a channel has blown or it has the Denon Curse. At the factory, denon installed some surge protecting resistors in the power supply. They are a little too small and well after warranty expires, one day, while playing music, or just turning it on, the resistors open up and the unit stays in protection mode. Denons were FAMOUS (or infanous) for this problem. I have repaired DOZENS of them. Take it to a denon repair shop as I GUARANTEE they have seen this before. Don't try ro repair this yourself as to get at the 4 resistors you have to disassemble the ENTIRE unit. Good luck....Rob
