Hi. I have a NV GS50 Panasonic camera. When I record a video and try to play it again is plays black screen and the counter is blank too.

To get your footage into the computer from DV tape you need a four pin firewire (IEEE1493 or iLink) cable from the camera to a six pin cable into the computer. USB will not do a proper job, it's for downloding photos or as you already mentioned, Web caming.

check to see if iris is opening and closing, could be seized vanes on iris motor. Good luck

try to clean the video head using a blank new tape and fast forward it 5 times if needed...dont use a video cassette cleaner it will ruin your video head...

Try using a different tape or cd. It could be faulty media.
