Dc35 brush head spins and stops

Hello, this is Ava with Think Crucial.

There are a number of reasons why your brush roller has stopped moving. General maintenance to your vacuum is crucial and will help it work at peak performance.

First things first lets focus on the brush roller. Unplug the vacuum and turn it on its side. Look for any noticeable clumps of debris or hair strands that may be caught in the brush roller. Remove these obstructions, probably best to do so with a scissor if it's hair or long pieces of carpet fibers. After removing the debris try manually rotating the brush roller to uncover other hidden clogs. Another thing to take note of is the condition of the bristles on the roll itself. Are they loose or worn down? These are signs that your brush roller is in need of replacing.

While checking out your brush roll you might as well take a look at your vacuums belt. Your belt should be replaced about every three months. After regular usage, the belt will stretch out, lessening the tension on the brush roller. Lesser tension diminishes the brush roller's turn rate and speed. If the belt feels loose then it certainly is affecting your vacuums suction as well as your brush roll not moving at all.

Brush on a Dyson DC35 stops rotating. I cleared it of any debris, cleaned off the roller, no obstructions in the tube, and it kept doing it.

I have twice had this intermittent problem of the spinning brush in the Dyson DC35 motorised head starting then stopping after a few seconds, and in both cases it was because of hair getting into the machinery behind the cog that drives the brush bar. It's fairly easy to fix (the only specialised tool required is a small torx-head screwdriver), and I wrote an illustrated step-by-step guide at:

Intermittent motor head

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

If your DC35's motorised cleaner head seems to work intermittently or cuts out when moved, this suggests that there could be a loose connection somewhere. We're keen to help you check for this, and our experts can talk you through some simple diagnostic checks to pinpoint the cause of the issue. If a replacement part is needed, we can also confirm whether or not your DC35 is still covered under its Dyson warranty.

When you have your DC35 fully charged and easily to hand, please give the Dyson Customer Helpline a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

We'll look forward to speaking with you.

Why does My Dyson DC35 will not work on high?

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC35 should work on both regular power (15 minutes runtime, or 13 minutes with the motorised head attached), and Boost mode (6 minutes runtime). If your machine won't work at all on Boost mode, we'd appreciate the opportunity to take you though some quick diagnostic checks when your machine is fully charged and near to hand. If a replacement part is needed, we can also confirm if this is covered under our 2-year guarantee.

You can reach our experts directly by calling on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).
