If it burnt a new HDD then the problem could lie somewhere on the mobo. If it's still under warranty, i'd suggest RMA. Otherwise, you will have to take it back to the computer repair shop and listen to their suggestions.
When you are in the BIOS see if the HDD is present. If not then it's probably the root cause of the problem because the system has nothing configured to boot to.

Yes, you can. ASUS provides downloads and support options. I have included a linke to the download page. You have to pick your model of notebook and then supply the Operating system type that your notebook is using. The download options will show on the page and the manual is generally at the bottom of the page.
